A Tribute to my Great Grandmother (Off Topic)
I realize this is off-topic, but I need to post it. I had to go up to Connecticut on January the 12th quite unexpectedly because my great-grandmother Ethel, someone I was very close to, died that morning, at 93 years old. She was an incredible woman. I was asked to be one of the pallbearers. Her ultimate goal in life, and one she fulfilled every day, was to make people laugh. She truly

Data Stale issue
Hi Charles, Thank you so much for getting back to me. I should have given you a bit of background in my last message but I'm actually doing this for my grandmother's benefit! She has Dementia and lives on her own so we want to be notified if she has a power cut... I'd hate to think she might be stumbling around in the dark (which has happened before)! In terms of stopping the older

Data Stale issue
Hello, Just to say, I stopped the driver and started it again and the errors went away! However, I turned off power to the UPS but I wasn’t receiving any e-mails :( also when I rebooted the RPi the driver/service didn’t start back up automatically... I wonder if you have any thoughts on the above? Kind Regards Gareth On 6 May 2019, at 3:27 pm, Gareth Davies <gareth94 at

Orphaned rsync process on remote machine?
All, Sometimes when I do an rsync, it times out and leaves on orphaned process on the remote machine. I am running rsync over ssh using public key authentication. I synchronize about twenty-five machines, and this problem only appears on one of them. It worked until recently on this machine. I don't know what changed or what is different. I run rsync with a command line like this

Data Stale issue
Hello, I apologise if I've sent this question to the wrong place/e-mail! I'm new to the site! I was wondering if anyone could help me... I downloaded Network UPS Tools yesterday so that I could receive e-mail notifications of when my UPS switched to battery power. I got it up and running and was working brilliantly! Then, after a while I tested the system by switching off power to my

List Rules
Does anyone know if their are rules that this list is supposed to be following? It doesn't appear to be moderated, so I realize that such rules would be self-enforced, but it still might be good to agree on some. Likewise, we could agree on none. That works also. Any thoughts? Some suggestions: 1) Be polite at all times. Imagine your grandmother reads this list. 2) If you can't be

To 1.4 or not
I don't have a particular reason to upgrade, but I'm installing a new box, so I have the opportunity to go 1.4. On the other hand, I'm not familiar with 1.4, and relatively new to Asterisk. So instead of trying to keep up with two different versions, I want to tie my handful of boxes to one, before any of them grow too complex. Is there a document about the main motivations to

How would you calculate this type of p-value using R?
Let's say you want to compare "one observation" with a sample, how would you use R to get a p-value for that single observation itself? To clarify what I'm asking: We know you use a one-sample t test to compare an actual sample to a hypothetical value, and a Wilcoxon test if it's not normally distributed, in R either "t.test( )" or "wilcox.test( )".

EXTLinux freezing up
I just now finally got around to redoing my grandmother's harddrive -- moving everything from a NTFS partition to FAT32 so I could set up rescue discs, be able to make repairs, and other such things that would then be able to safely write data to her primary partition. My resulting setup was a three partition drive with the first partition being a ~256MB EXT2 partition for boot files, the

HABTM using two columns
Hi all, I was wondering whether anyone could guide me to docu and code examples how to create and use a has_and_belongs_to_many relationship with a joining table where TWO columns are used to identify the relation to TWO alternative tables. Example: table 1: mothers [mother_id, name] table 2: fathers [father_id, name] table 3: children [child_id, name] joining table 4: children_parent

Trying to figure out why my Cruzer Micro 512"MB" won't boot.
Office Depot ran a deal with a Cruzer Micro 512MB (actually, around 488MiB) for about $20 after a rebate I may not see for months. I saw the ad yesterday and stopped by pretty well first thing this afternoon to snatch one up while they were still there since I've been having to make do with two 256MB drives to hold all the data I neded since one drive couldn't hold enough (though I must
