Lossy Audio Compression Research
...ryone,
I'm a student at the Universtiy of Delaware, and will be soon starting
some research on the effects of lossy audio compression on speech sounds. I
will be preforming test with both mp3 and vorbis.
First of all, if I use the '--ogg' switch to lame, does lame use GPSYCHO
to encode the wave, or some other psychoacoustic model (perhaps one designed for
the vorbis algorith)? Along these lines, I'm unable to get lame-3.89 and
libvorbis rc2 to play nicely together. The lame build breaks when compiling
ogg support (this is probably a known bug, so I'm not post...

psycho-acoustic model in ogg vorbis
I wonder what psycho-acoustic model is used in ogg vorbis.
Did they create their own model (this requires big listening tests) ?
Or is it something that was already there, like gpsycho ?

test vectors for OggVorbis encoder
Hi,
We are working on Oggvorbis encoder porting on embedded platform. Where
can we find good test vectors (wav files) for testing OggVorbis encoder?
Does anybody have any idea.

Vorbis/Lame
Hi,
I think that it would be a good thing to know more about those 2 projects
(and also the future patent free format).
I think that many people as me know about Lame, but not about Vorbis, and
vice-versa.
It would be fine that someone (perhaps the maintainer) of every project
would introduce to both group of people those projects. 2 things would be
interesting (to my mind):

Hi all,
Is there a standard set of wave files for testing the quality of the output
of oggenc?
