[fdo] Global architecture ?
Hello,
I'm working on an Openmoko FreeRunner where I'm supposed to use the GPS module.
I just have a question about the global architecture concerning the
different layers from the hardware to the final GPS application.
I'm using ogpsd, fso-gpsd, etc. What is "Gypsy" then ?
Is this scheme correct :
hardware <-> ogpsd (= gypsy) <-> fso-gpsd <-> tangoGPS
Thanks a lot,
Vincent

Wine NT Services / Serial Port
...o, when you active the GPS function in AutoRoute, wine reports, that the
ports (com, lpt) get initialized, but nothing else (ie. no file hadles, no
baud-rates). And then, after a while, the application reports "no gps
receiver found", as if it never saw anything on the serial ports.
BTW: gpsd / gpsdriver or minicom all tell me, that the gps receiver is
working ok...
Perhaps someone here can help me debugging this stupid proggy, or point me
to a gps utility, which (unlike gpsdriver) comes with complete maps, and
route planning - which works under wine (if not native).
Thanks a lot!

Bad news - my UPS has died. Good news - my UPS has died
...acked off to a recycler, and the motherboard hurriedly
replaced.
The good news, for you guys anyway, is that becoming active in NUT
again just became much more interesting :-) I had unfinished business
with revising the NUT documentation that I had let slide because of
being a lead on one project (gpsd) and a senior dev on another (Battle
For Wesnoth). Now I have every reason to finish that job, because I
shall need to re-familiarize myself with the NUT installation and
configuration process anyway. In parallel, I will update the UPS
HOWTO, <http://tldp.org/HOWTO/UPS-HOWTO/introduction.html&...

I've got the GPS - two different ones, actually - being recognized by

Recommendations for consumer-grafe GPSes?
2. Recommendations?
My use case is pretty typical. I have one Linux machine I want to
protect, automated shutown is desirable, blackouts longer than a
hour are very rare at my location (the last one I can remember was
in 1993), brownouts are very rare and mild, but summer thunderstorms
are common and can be severe. I'm a good match for your typical
consmer-grade UPS.
