[This is something like a bug report;
maybe somewhat longish & technical ..]
As an introduction, just try the following code
(it should work both in R and S).
I think it screws up the postscript() driver both for S and R, but this is
not the issue here.

Compiling on SGI Irix 5.3
Hello,
I successfully compiled 0.61.3 on SGI Irix 5.3 (CC). But there is a
syntax bug in src/graphics/graphics.c. I append a diff. Please, have a
look wether the fix is correct! (I'm not shure :-)
Thanks for the SHELL variable in the Makefile's. Please, don't forget
about the problem with externally installed regular expression
libraries (e.g. librx). Perhaps you can improve the

Possible error in ?axTicks
Hi all,
Before posting to r-bugs, I thought that I would just verify this one
first.
It looks like the help for axTicks() needs to be corrected.
It presently says:
'axTicks()' can be regarded as an R implementation of the C function
'CreateAtVector()' in '..../src/main/graphics.c' which is called by
'axis(side,*)' when no argument 'at' is specified.

Wandering usr values in par(no.readonly=TRUW) (PR#2283)

Dear R folks,
Initially I had a plotting routine using logarithmic y-axes that failed after
repeated calls if I tried to restore the graphical parameters (which I wanted to
do because I used `layout' within the routine. I tried to isolate the problem
and found out that the following code with logarithmic axis is sufficient for

Missing tick marks bug on alpha solved
On some systems (alpha), tick marks don't appear on plots. The easiest
way to see the problem is something like:
> plot(0:1,axes=FALSE)
> axis(1,1:2)
The problem is in X11_Line(...) from .../src/unix/devX11.c, which is
so short I've included the whole function below:
static void X11_Line(double x1, double y1, double x2, double y2,
int coords, DevDesc *dd)

R-0.63.2 is released
I've put up R-0.63.2.tgz up for FTP from Auckland some minutes ago.
As usual, don't get it from there unless you are desperate, but wait
for it to be mirrored at a CRAN site near you within a day or two.
For those who *are* desperate, I've left a copy in
ftp://blueberry.kubism.ku.dk/pub/R-devel/R-0.63.2.tgz
(Be gentle, that's my desktop PC!)
There's also a version split in
