GPMC Permissions
Hello all, I installed Samba4 from GIT (alpha 16, it says) and while most
functionality is operational, GPMC continues to report an error in
permissions, claiming the permissions for the GPO are inconistant with that
of Active Directory. I can't correctly implement GPOs due to this, since
only parts of the GPO (if at all) are actually updated on machines (WInXP
SP3). Thanks for any input on the issue.

Samba 4.2.14 Group Policy (GPO) sync error
> I wonder if this has the same cause as this bug:

Well, I already came across this bug report as my GPMC shows the same error on
"Status" tab of the domain. Though I didn't join ainy Windows domain controller
to the Samba domain. I am running GPMC on my local Windows 10 Pro machine joined
to the domain.
It shows "No Infrastructure Status Information exists for this domain."...

Vista Roaming Profiles and GPMC.MSC

explaining how to do folder redirection so that at least some of the
XP/Vista profile will roam. To do this you have to logon to Vista as a
"Domain User" and run GPMC.MSC. The problem is that, even though I logon
as a domain user (DOMAIN\user) the GPMC.MSC issues the warning:
"To manage Group Policy, you must log on to the computer with a domain
user account."
With samba 2.2.8a we have no "Domain Users" group. Could this be the
problem...

SYSVOL ACLs and GPOs
Hi,
I have installed a virtual testing network consisting of one samba4 PDC
(latest git master) and one Windows XP Pro SP3 (fully updated)machine.
I have successfully provisioned an AD Domain and joined the XP machine
to it.
When I run the gpmc on the XP Pro machine and select:
Forest: <domain name> -> Domains -> <domain name> -> Group Policy
Objects -> Default Domain [Controller | Policy]
I get the following error:
"The permissions for this GPO in the SYSVOL folder are inconsistent with
those in Active Dir...

Hi folks,
I've tried to get password policies setting using the Windows GPMC from
RSAT working. Unfortunately, no change. It just does not work. Here is
the smb.conf for the AD DC:
# Global parameters
[global]
??????? dns forwarder = 78.110.208.34
??????? netbios name = TESTADC1
??????? realm = TESTDOM.TALPS
??????? server role = active directory domain controller

Permission Issues with GPO
...iles and directories.
Any users (or computer) must go across these two levels of ACLs to access
files or directories.
Now regarding GPO ACLs which are partly hosted on Sysvol the same concepts
applies: Sysvol share ACLs + File on FS ACLs.
Regarding ACLs for GPO files, if the GPO was created with GPMC.msc, the GPO
is mainly stored in AD (don't ask me what resides on Sysvol) and in AD are
also stored correct ACLs on GPO's files.
I said that because I naively tried to modify ACLs on my
GPMC.msc-created-GPO and these changes were automatically reset to the ones
declared in AD.
Perhaps that...

Permission Issues with GPO
I was experiencing problems with Group Policy Objects. The Windows Event
Viewer spits out so many different errors, most of them less than
helpful, so Iwas seeking help here with some of those messages.
In the end, and after many hours and even days of researching this
problem, I seem to have pin-pointed the main issue to some simple
permission irregularities that I don't know how to

windows shortcut for "Group Policy Editor"
Hey all,
according to the whitepaper http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc736591%28v=ws.10%29.aspx
I would like to a windows shortcut on the desktop that allows me to open and run the "Group Policy Editor"
*for my samba4/AD domain*.
The shortcut command should be:
"gpedit.msc /gpobject:"LDAP://CN={31B2F340-016D-11D2-945F-00C04FB984F9},CN=Policies,CN=mydom,

sysvolreset doesn't reset all ACLs
...get that far, and get an "user could not be resolved" error
instead (paraphrased, German Windows 7).
sysvolreset, as mentioned, doesn't work, neither on a blank directory
(fails with file not found), nor on a full directory (no error, but no
effect either). Restoring permissions via GPMC snap-in doesn't give an
error either, and is no longer offered, apparently there's no
inconsistency it can detect.
Domain Admins used to have a gid set, this was corrected before my last
attempt to restore permissions via GPMC. (A dummy `Unix Domain Admins`
group was added to take over the...
