Camera Communications
I have an Olympus camera which communicates with the software through a special cable connected to COM2:. The software works in WINE, but it won't communicate with the camera, it says my COM: settings are wrong, but I've tried changing settings to about every combination possible with no luck. Any ideas? Has anyone gotten this type of camera to work in WINE? Thanks, BIll K.

Couple quick questions (maybe ;)
...st curious if there is a command that uses the broadcast to query all computers in that subnet and can return a list of those computers. Just a couple questions, and hoping each is possible :) Thanx much! ====---- - - - - - - - - - Scott Fritzinger Digital Photography for Linux! gPhoto Project www.gphoto.org

Configuring a Kodak EZ200 Webcam in CentOS 4.3
...f this is one of those questions that don't "deserve an answer" but here goes: My friend gave me a Kodak EZ-200 Webcam (USB) recently and I'm trying to configure it for use under CentOS 4.3. I did a little research on the web and found that the Kodak EZ200 is supported using gphoto2 (http://www.teaser.fr/~hfiguiere/linux/digicam.html - search "EZ200" to see that it is in the list of supported cameras). My system has gphoto2-2.1.4-7 installed (I think this a system package), but when I look for EZ200 support (using 'gphoto2 --list-cameras'), the EZ200 is...

CentOS 6 - Support for CanoScan LiDE 210
...Fedora. The other is to use the > linuxtech-backports repo [1]. I have even built it from a tarball but > this should not be necessary. > As I have only very basic skills with yum command I had problems with the same packages (i.e. sane-backends, sane-backends-libs, sane-backends-libs-gphoto) available in two repos. Then I ended in using yum to remove everything concerning xsane/sane (including hp sane packages), then downloading from linuxtech and running "rpm -U ..." and then with yum I again installed xsane. Now I'm able to see the CanoScan LiDE 210 in xsane and it...

wine-20010305 and serial port access
...orts] "Com1" = "/dev/ttyS0" "Com2" = "/dev/ttyS1" "Com3" = "/dev/ttyS2" "Com4" = "/dev/modem" Then I started the installer from the Toshiba-CD and installed the software for my Toshiba PDR-M5. It's not supported by gphoto (nor by gphoto2) so I am trying to get this windows-software running. The software installed ok. I start it and when I get to the configuring dialog for the serial port I chose Com1: and automatic speed detection. When I ckick on OK I get this error message in the xterm I started it from: fixme:c...

Using all cores during compile
Is there anyway to use all 4 cores on my quad core during compilation? It appears I am only using 1 core. I am hoping there is a flag I can pass to the makefile. Alternatively, I could probably break the makefile in four different makefiles for compiling and a separate makefile for linking. From there I could execute the compile makefiles seperately and finally the link makefile when the others

Higher than normal CPU usage in wine 1.4
...using Fedora 16 x86 and x86_64 as well as Linux Mint 12 x86_64. I always compile from source and all of those distros use some flavor of gcc 4.6. I didn't think this would be an issue because I always disable Steam Community stuff. When I run ./configure, I'm usually missing libhal, OSSv4, gphoto, OpenCL, and gstreamer development libraries. I don't think the lack of these would be causing my issue. When I build on 32bit Fedora 16, I'm only missing libhal and OSSv4 and I still see the high CPU usage in the Steam.exe example. On the 64bit distros, when I run ./configure, I set CC=...

Gcc error during make depend/make of latest Git-Wine source.
I'm on Linux Mint Fluxbox CE 5 trying to compile the latest Git source. I previously had Wine 1.0 something from the Synaptic repos, and wanted bleeding edge so I did Code: $ aptitude remove wine and then followed the Wine + Git instructions. After the repo was cloned I ran ./configure, installed a couple dependencies and libfreetype-dev, and the config script then ran fine. Then I

photos on iPhone 6
A bit of a perennial I'm afraid. My wife has filled up her iPhone 6 with photos, and wants them moved onto my computer. I'm running CentOS 7 patched about 30 minutes ago. Needless to say the computer can't see the data on the iPhone, though it does recognise the phone as an iPhone. Any suggestions (well any that don't involve a steam roller, sledge hammer or GBH to the whole of
