Lessons from LibreOffice project
...build and test issues and tracking changes in the code base.
While the LibreOffice project is very different from R, there may
nevertheless be some tips we can borrow in the best open source
tradition. FWIW, the article is quite short.

CentOS 6.x, kernel-2.6.32-220.7.1, EC2 and drive enumeration
...39;ve had a poke around the upstream bugzilla (e.g.
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=771912) as well as the EC2
forums and there are a couple of similar but not-quite-the-same
problems with the newer kernel.
Does anyone have any similar experience or advice?
Cheers,
Steph

Rails Masters'' debugging techniques -> Rails Recipes?
...pers and other
ruby/rails gurus use and how they are able to be so productive...not
withstanding the fact that they by definition write better code than I
:) It is incomprehensible to my average brain when I hear that DHH
wrote basecamp + rails in 6 weeks or so (rails first rails video) -or-
that Gosling cobbled up Java over a weekend -or- that Jim Fulton
wrote zope on a plane ride home
-http://www.plope.com/Books/2_7Edition/IntroducingZope.stx and other
such stories.
There seems to be precious little written on the subject in the wiki.
Thanks for the opportunity to vent,

AllowUsers not working under certain conditions
...at makes no difference.
Can somebody tell me if these are known problems or simply features (that's
the way its supposed to work)?
If they are known or new problems are they likely to be fixed in the latest
version?

Relevant diff against 3.9p1 appended below (although it should be
noted that I've only tested this in anger against 3.8p1 ; however the
changelog suggests that this is not an area where there's substantial
change between 3.8 and 3.9 ...)

Respect and Disappointment
I''ve finally started a blog. I really didn''t want to go public with it
until I was sure I keep it up, but DHH posted a entry to his blog that I
feel compelled to comment on.
You can read about it on my blog:

zfs list improvements?
To improve the performance of scripts that manipulate zfs snapshots and the zfs snapshot service in perticular there needs to be a way to list all the snapshots for a given object and only the snapshots for that object.
There are two RFEs filed that cover this:
http://bugs.opensolaris.org/view_bug.do?bug_id=6352014 :
''zfs list'' should have an option to only present direct
