What's wrong with yum-priorities?
"The upstream maintainer of yum, Seth Vidal, had the following to say about 'yum priorities' in September 2009: Gosh, I hope people do not set up yum priorities. There are so many things about priorities that make me cringe all over. It could just be that it reminds me of apt 'pinning' and that makes me want to hurl." This note was placed on the wiki (PackageManagement/Yum?Priorities) without any ex...

C7 on Dell Precision 7530
....04 LTS pre-installed (which doesn't attract me at all), but prior to use such hw model at work, I'd like to understand where I'm going to. Especially after my bad experiences installing C7 on "modern" (read since skylake variants) hardware whereas Ubuntu variants went better, gosh. Or maybe I should wait for C8. Of course I did dig the Internet for intel, found very few stuff and this: https://access.redhat.com/ecosystem/hardware/3431551 Regards, -- wwp -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed... EADM & Warhammer Online
...I tell it to execute "EADM/Core.exe" that complains it needs flash & asks permission to load a page in my web-browser. Doesn't actually do that. The web-browser is oblivious of what this program is trying to do. The DL files for Warhammer Online are located in /media/disk2/EADM. Gosh, do I have to buy a physical copy of the game on disc to install or can I use EADM?

user database clarification
Hi, this question gets back to a thread I started back on July 8th. (gosh how time flies) I still am not clear on why PAM is not supported for the user database. I'm in an environment that has users both in local flat files (/etc/passwd and /etc/shadow) AND in an LDAP database. Is it possible for this set up to work with dovecot? (both local and ldap users have...

upgraded old smb system to new release with a few errors
I moved an old smb system (version 2) over to a completely new system with version 3.0.7 running on FC2. I just copied the config files over and then ran swat and adjusted any problems that I found. Then save the swat config and started the smb server. Gosh be Good! It worked just fine. But... I stared noticing entries like these in the logs: rpc_server/srv_util.c:get_domain_user_groups(376) get_domain_user_groups: primary gid of user [jc.nelson] is not a Domain group ! get_domain_user_groups: You should fix it, NT doesn't like that : 8 T...

[LLVMdev] [RFC] Raise minimum required CMake version to 3.0
...ossible to get pre-built CMake 2.8.12 and gcc 4.7 on either Mac or > Windows? And we wouldn't be requiring it for cmake. My point was that cmake is always easier to install: * From binaries: a bit easier, since they are provided in http://www.cmake.org/ * From source: way easier than gcc. Gosh, from my experience *building* cmake is easier than *downloading* llvm and clang in the right layout, so the extra cost is really small. As for the advantages, this seems to make it easier to drop the autoconf build, which would be a really big win for us. >> We already require it of every...

Asterisk and 4G
Hello, I've started to do some research into the new 4G wireless standard, and there's one part of the standard that intrigues me. Apparently all data is packet based, including the phone calls. Every phone will have its own IPv6 address. This seems to pave the way for a call to go directly from a cell phone to a soft PBX like Asterisk. Is this possible under the 4G spec? If

XP: VBD could not connect to backend device: USB boot

We mount harddisk and try to install xp.hvm While,we are successful with FCs as DOM-U, for XP we get, VBD (768) could not be connected. We do have max_loop count to 64 and enough loop devices. as.data.frame peculiarities
The documentation of as.data.frame is not explicit about how it generates column names for the simple vector case, but it seems to use the character form of the quoted argument, e.g. names(as.data.frame(1:3)) [1] "1:3" But there is a strange case: names(as.data.frame(c("a"))) [1] "if (stringsAsFactors) factor(x) else x" I feel fairly comfortable calling this a

How to create a write-only share?
Hi! I need to create a share that will be readoble by root only (by owner) and writeable for all. We replacing a dead Windows NT 4.0 server and there was a permission type called "Add" and our users uses this type of permission often. They creates a shares where other users can add files but can not read or even list it. I saw a thread here called "How to make "Add
