Cleaning Up My Process Table
I'm upgrading my primary server from RH 7.2 to CentOS-4.3.ServerCD. I
REALLY like the ServerCD. Who needs all the fluff that comes with a
standard distro? If I want a system-config-gooey I can run Xnest [1]
and ssh -X from my laptop. Anyway I have two questions:
1) How can I collectively stop all the NFS, portmap, whatever? I'm hoping
it can be manipulated as a group because occationally I actually will
want to use NFS.
2) Can I safely turn off dbus, hal, and/or xfs? Or will...

dovecot and avahi
I am trying to figure out if I need avahi on my mail server. I see that
POP3 and IMAP are services that Avahi can advertise/discover. Does
Dovecot work with Avahi and how do you get POP3 and IMAP advertised?
And perhaps more importantly, what clients look for mail services this way?
I can't find any information on this in the Dovecot documentation ot
googling. Perhaps my search fu is

system account delivery userdb authentication
Hi
I have a remaining issue with a mail server setup.
Composed of Postfix and Dovecot it is is a 'local' mail server
At first I relied upon Mysql to store the various parameters, and then
switched to a flat file approach
I also initially set the server up to handle virtual users, but then I
realized that it was destined to manage local system accounts only. So I
reconfigured it
