CentOS SDR Support
Several weeks ago, we posted a message seeking information about
time sources.? There were many helpful and educational responses.
An excerpt from one of the responses is included below.? We have
been following up with regard to how SDR capabilities might be
used for obtaining time using SDR dongles as well as using the
time source product referenced in that response.
Our SDR investigation has

Formula/heuristic for estimating packet size?
Hello,
I'm working on an Opus encoder block for GNUradio (a signal processing toolkit).
I was wondering if there's some formula/heuristic for estimating the
packet size average case / worst case given a certain encoder setting
(assuming VBR).
I need to provided a reasonable estimate to the GNUradio memory allocator.

GNURadio Compressive Sensing block
Hi there,
Has anyone tried installing the CS Toolbox from Cgran with gnuradio3.3.0
version.
https://cgran.org/wiki/CompSens
I am unable to install it. Has anyone had similar issues?
Thanks,
T. Mat

unable to create channel of type 'SIP'
I'm trying to use OpenBTS with Asterisk.
I have two phones that are connecting to OpenBTS correctly, but on the
Asterisk side the phones can't call each other.
I followed this guide:
http://gnuradio.org/redmine/projects/gnuradio/wiki/OpenBTSSettingUpAsterisk
I set up two phones in sip.conf and extensions.conf.
In my SIP output I see this:
WARNING[1689]: app_dial.c:2041 dial_exec_full: unable to create
channel of type 'SIP' (cause 20 - unknown)
If I type sip show registry it says ther...

Software versus hardware RAID performance.
With the Dell OpenManage question on my mind (and having seen it answered very
well), I was reminded of an interesting and a little surprising thing I saw
yesterday.
I upgraded a PowerEdge 2850 from CentOS4 to Fedora Core 5 (keeping everything
updated for GNUradio to run on CentOS 4 became more of a job that it should
have) for our pulsar data processing machine (it has a GNUradio Universal
Software Radio Peripheral (USRP) attached USB 2.0), which has a Dell PERC
4e/Di RAID controller, two 72GB 10k U320 SCSI drives, and four 146GB 10k U320
SCSI drives....

speex_nb_mode declaration problem
Hello all,
I am using the speex APIs in a gnuradio block.
I used the similar code as in the sampleenc.c/sampledec.c which works
perfectly fine.
My compilation does not give any error, but when I run the python test, it
complains that speex_nb_mode is undefined.
I tried to declare it explicitly then it as const SpeexMode *mode = NULL ,
then i get an...

PHP vulnerability CVE-2016-4073
...ntOS and SL both), but a quick perusal of the
current SCL shows that boost 1.54+ is a requirement for at least two
already supported SCL packages.
In my opinion, the versions of packages that are supported should be
user-needs driven and not so inflexible that, for instance, an easy
upgrade of GNURadio to the latest version from the quite old version
supported in EPEL7 would be done, simply because most enterprise users
of GNURadio are going to need the latest version regardless of the
packaging and versioning guidelines.
Or, in summary, stability should not be equated with version stagnation...

Packet Loss question
Hello all,
I know that SPEEX has a mechanism to handle packet loss.
I see there is some handling for packet loss implemented in speexdec.
I want to know, if in my own application should i also implement such
packet loss handling or is it taken care of within the decoder?
I want to test my SPEEX application for GNU Radio for some packet loss,if
i just simulate a packet loss mechanism, will it work

PHP vulnerability CVE-2016-4073
Hello,
My server with CentOS 6.8 just failed PCI scan, so I'm looking into
vulnerable packages. PHP 5.3.3 have multiple vulnerabilities, some of
them are fixed/patched or have some kind of workaround. But I can't find
a way to fix this one. Red Hat state: under investigation.

Asterisk with OpenBTS and mobile phone
Hello mailinglist,
I want to connect Asterisk with OpenBTS and make a call with a mobile
phone.
I use:
Ubuntu 11.10 + Kernel 3.0.22
GnuRadio 3.3.0
Asterisk 1.8.13
OpenBTS 2.8
Nokia Mobile Phone
OpenBTS works and I can send sms from the OpenBTS server to the
mobile phone. What I also need is a call between Asterisk and OpenBTS.
I have also two soft phones which works with Asterisk. And also OpenBSC
is working with Asterisk successfully...

In many cases it's as easy as downloading a new tar source file and adding it to the existing source rpm, doing three seconds of editing on the spec file to account for the new update, and compiling the result. Sometimes it's
