Winbind fails to refresh Kerberos tickets (3.0.25b - Fedora Core 5) - 2nd Try
This is the second attempt at sending this. Apologies for any duplicates.
I've got Winbind up and running to authenticate our users against our AD
and to save kerberos tickets. I have used the "winbind refresh tickets =
yes" setting expecting this to renew these kerberos tickets before they
expire. This does not appear to work. Gnome will pop up a dialog box
saying that the

RHEL 7.6 released
https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-us/red_hat_enterprise_linux/7/html-single/7.6_release_notes/
They silently rebased GNOME to 3.28, which wasn't in the 7.6 beta nor in
the release notes. Can't wait to see it on my desktop. Too bad we still
have to wait for 3.29, which has more fixes for the huge memory leak of
gnome-shell.

Out of memory
Hi,
I have three machines running CentOS 7.6 in desktop mode. 2 are fine.
1 of them is having a memory issue that is Out of memory

This gnome-shell looking at /var/log/messages after reboot - is the HIGHEST
amount of memory. Looking at "top" now - it certainly does not use that
amount of ram at this time.

weird characters in files created by gnome login on samba share
Hello,
I just tried a gnome login with an empty home directory on a samba
mounted directory, and this resulted in several files with strange
characters in the filenames in the end. (as created by the initial gnome
login)
I cannot reproduce this by hand, and it certainly does not happen when I
do the login on a local directory, or when I copy that local directory
to the samba directory.
I use

errors with GeForce GTX 650 Ti and 3 monitors
Hi,
Using 3 monitors on the GeForce GTX 650 Ti card (2 DVI and 1 VGA) works great out of the box on Fedora 20. However, every couple of days the graphics driver seems to crash. The same thing used to happen when 2 monitors were in use, but that has pretty much stabilized as of late. Does anyone have a stable setup with this card using 3 monitors? Will 3 monitors be supported?
Thanks,
Rob

OpenSSH and Redhat 8
John,
The following steps should work for you (or anyone buildling on a
RedHat box):
1) Get the official OpenSSH source RPM from
ftp://ftp.openbsd.org/pub/OpenBSD/OpenSSH/portable/rpm/SRPMS/openssh-3.7.1p2-1.src.rpm
2) Do 'rpmbuild --rebuild ./openssh-3.7.1p2-1.src.rpm' from where you
saved the file.
3) This should create the following files in /usr/src/redhat/RPMS/i386:

Are these steps for re-installing Gnome correct/safe?
My desktop environment has become a little chaotic, and, long story
short, I would like to uninstall KDE and Gnome, and then reinstall
Gnome. (I want to remove KDE for the time being because I just don't
think I want it taking up space on my hard drive).
The thing is, I don't want to throw the baby out with the bathwater. For
instance, I want to make sure I don't lose settings in

errors with GeForce GTX 650 Ti and 3 monitors
There were fixes in 3.17 that were supposed to help this, but
apparently they didn't help enough. See
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=72180 -- basically some
sort of card setup failure on our part is causing our ctxsw to die,
but nvidia's appears to be more resilient to the screwups.

Hello.
Finally I discovered the mailinglists and subscribed.
Before, I were in #tinc, pinging guus all the time with
various stuff/problems/patches/etc.
So... the problems, in no particular order.

Quite often, after re-starting a client (I run in tunnelserver

I'm looking for any easy way to make gnome a little more like KDE so my

Gnome switcher and gnome windows list
Hello,
am I the only one experiencing some bugs with the latest git checkout
in the gnome switcher and gnome window list ?
When I click on one of the workspaces on gnome's switcher the cube
doesn't rotate, but the windows disappear. I don't know how to
describe it well, but it seems like the 4 faces of the cube in compiz
and my 4 workspaces on gnome-switcher are now totally unrelated

Alternative GUI
Hey All,
I'm considering moving from CentOS 6 to CentOS 7. I'm not interested in
dealing with Gnome 3. I've heard good things about Mate, a fork of
Gnome 2. it appears that Mate is available in the EPEL repository
associated with CentOS 7.
Have any of you tried Mate on CentOS 7? In your experienced opinion
what would I be giving up by abandoning Gnome 3 and installing Mate
