Issues with Legend symbols
Hello forum!
I am currently having trouble getting R to recognize one of my pch
characters. Here's what I have:
legend(120, 40, c("SAL-arterial", "SAL-portal", "GLP-1-arterial",
"GLP-1-portal"), bty="n", col=c("black"), pch=19:15:21:22, pt.bg="white",
pt.cex=2:2:2:2, lty=1, lwd=2, text.col="black", cex=1.3)
Now, SAL-arterial and SAL-portal should be a black circle and square,
respectively. GLP-1-arterial...

Question about contributed packages
I am working on a methodology for qualifying R, for GLP and GCP.
If I quailfy only the base R install, with no contributed packages, it
seems relatively simple to qualify R. However, from time to time I
will want to use a contributed package. If I use a contributed package,
does it leave anything behind that will be loaded with the next invocation
of R...

While I agree with Martyn with respect to code, documentation, and
vignettes, the point Ben raises is relevant and not obvious. Data sets in
say GLP-licensed packages are on occasion challenged by Debian packagers
where it isn't obvious that GPL is appropriate. Some spatial packages are
not accepted for packaging as is because of included data, data that is
needed to run realistic examples.
The problem could be picky packagers, but it is...

Not generally the packagers (who get frustrated by this like everybody else)
but by the "ftp-masters" teams who look over what gets into the Archive.
They are the license reviewers, and gate-keepers.
In several cases we...

Dovecot on Redhat GFS
Now that Redhat released GFS to GLP has anyone gotten around to
test Dovecot on top of that?

need feedback on OGG info page
Hi!
While vorbisizing our web site, I also wrote an information page about
OGG Vorbis in order to help our visitors to both understand what OGG is
all about and learn how to (easily) play our and others .ogg files.
Since English is not my native language, I could use some
help/feedback/proofreading on that page. What I want in the end is
understandable, plain English (that can also be understood

Does anyone have speculations about the implications of the GPL for
data included in a package, or more generally for restricting use of data?
The specific use case is that I have a package which is otherwise
GPL (version unspecified at present). There are various data sets
included, but they are all essentially in the public domain. I'm

Problem with --link-dest from within subversion working copy
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----

Hello,
I've just encountered an issue where using --link-dest from within a
Subversion working copy does not create hard links as intended.
The idea is to supply the build toolchain for an embedded software
development project to all users without having to force everybody to
check out the whole stuff. This way we have the toolchain under

Printing with CUPS & Samba...
I am trying to print from both a Win98 PC via Samba and a Red Hat 8.0
workstation to an HP 4 Plus printer that is connected to a Red Hat 8.0
server. I have managed to get the Win98 PC working OK, but am having
difficulty with the RH8 workstation.
I set the printer up using a browser with <Server>:631, calling it HP4Plus,
and I can send a test print from the browser on the RH8 box via

cups printing
I have searched around the samba documentation, including the smb.conf man
page, and have found nothing regarding the cups printing system except
change printcap to cups. Now, I have done that, but printing still does
not work. I need some types of details and a sample smb.conf and/or any
other relevant documentation.
Thanks much,

Validation of R
Hi All
I am really very interested in starting to use R within our company. I
particularly like the open source nature of the product. My company is a
medical research company which is part of the University of London.
We conduct contract virology research for large pharma companies. My
question is how do we validate this software? I wonder if anyone else
has had the problem and might be able to

What am I missing here?!
OK, I've tried changing my printcap name from printcap to cups. Printing
works fine locally using CUPS on the Samba box. What am I missing here? Why
can't I print to the Samba box via the Windows and linux clients? Shared
directories work fine. I am really frustrated here and have exhausted Google
and all other resources I have. Here's my smb.conf for what it's worth.

timeout after inactivity on mount.cifs
Hi Ivan,
Not sure if you have found a solution or not since your post was back in
February, but I thought I'd reply as this is the only thread I could
find anywhere that mentions a problem that I was having on a recent
installation of Arch Linux.
A few minutes after boot all of my CIFS/Samba mounts would go offline
and I'd get an error "The host is down." But I could unmount

Greetings,
Has anyone installed digikam-4.0 with yum on CentOS 7?
On my CentOS 7 machine "yum install digikam" fails. Apparently "kio_mtp"
is not available:
