And besides, I have read somewhere in this list that IT IS THE WRONG WAY TO DO STUFF IN R :) Is there the right way to do things that I want, and if not ? what are the possible workarounds, smarter than the ones I listed? -- Donatas Glodenis

how do I draw such a barplot?
...gle column, and should be divided into 5 sections, the thickness of each depending on the number of respondents who choose that particular answer. How do I do that? How do I make Lithuanian characters display correctly in R graphics? Instead of the special characters for Lithuanian language I get question marks... I use Ubuntu Feisty, the locale is utf-8 ... Do I need to specify somewhere the locale for R, or - default font for the graphics? -- Donatas Glodenis http://dg.lapas.info

Subject: Re: how to include bar values in a barplot?
Greg, I'm going to join issue with your here! Not that I'll go near advocating "Excel-style" graphics (abominable, and the Patrick Burns URL which you cite is remarkable in its restraint). Also, I'm aware that this is potential flame-war territory -- again, I want to avoid that too. However, this is the second time you have intervened on this theme (previously Mon 6
