Multicore package: sharing/modifying variable accross processes
Hi,
I want to parallelize some computations when it's possible on multicore
machines.
Each computation produces a big objects that I don't want to store if
not necessary: in the end only the object that best fits my data have to
be returned. In non-parallel mode, a single gloabl object is updated if
the current computation gets a better result than the best previously found.
My plan was to use package multicore. But there is obviously an issue of
concurrent access to the global result variable.
Is there a way to implement something like a lock/mutex to ensure make

Win2k joining a Samba domain
Hi,
Having managed to get far enough with the config to get a win2k box to
connect to a Samba v3.0 share where the Samba machine's backend is based
in LDAP, I cannot now add this win2k machine to the domain.
Can anyone give me an example of how to set up an account within the
LDAP server that has sufficient rights to allow the machine to join my
Samba domain?
Regards,
Graham

Search Multiple Models
Hello folks,
I have four models, each with their own separate index.
Models = Articles, Blogs, MusicTracks, and MediaFiles
I have individual searches within each section of the site working just
fine, but I want to have a gloabl search that searches across all of
them at the same time and returns the results ordered by score.
Here''s how far I am now...
def search
query = params[:query]
articles = Article.find_id_by_contents(query)
blogs = Blog.find_id_by_contents(query)
tracks = MusicTrack.find_id_by...

3.0.1-member-server-printing
hello list,
after successfully playing around to get a working samba
3.0.1-PDC-LDAP-Suse9 configuration a new challenge takes place :
scenario:
suse9 with samba 3.0.1 as a member server in a NT4 controlled domain.
winbind works as expected (thanks to documention authors). There seems
to be no problem with file sharing, ACL is working properly (I'm using
xfs filesystem). :-)
so, now the

[V2 RFC net-next PATCH 1/2] virtio_net: convert the statistics into array
Currently, we store the statistics in the independent fields of virtnet_stats,
this is not scalable when we want to add more counters. As suggested by Michael,
this patch convert it to an array and use the enum as the index to access them.

[RFC] IR-level Region Annotations
...gt;>>>For example, if a region is marking a loop as parallel from an OpenMP pragma, but a strength reduction transformation introduces a loop-carried dependency and thus invalidate the “parallel” semantic?
Yes, there are a list of such cases, e.g. forward substitution, strength reduction, gloable constant propagation. Here is another example, under serial semantic, you can do constant propagation, but, under parallel semantics, we can't do constant propagation. All these issues are considered

[RFC] IR-level Region Annotations
A Proposal for adding an experimental IR-level region-annotation
infrastructure
=============================================================================
Hal Finkel (ANL) and Xinmin Tian (Intel)
This is a proposal for adding an experimental infrastructure to support
annotating regions in LLVM IR, making use of intrinsics and metadata, and
a generic analysis to allow transformations to
