cannot install glibc.i686 on x86_64
I cannot install glibc.i686 on a x86_64 system because I get Error: Missing Dependency: glibc-common = 2.5-81 is needed by package glibc-2.5-81.i686 (base) glibc-common.x86_64 is installed, but it's apparently looking for i686. There's indeed no glibc-common for i686. There's also glibc.i386 and glibc-common.i386 available, but I think I don't need them. I have other x86_64

Library
Can someone tell me where I can find glibc-2.3.3 for either x86-64 or most likely i386. My yum stuff must be broken, or I don't know how to use it cause it can't find the lib. I'm looking on the CD's also, but so far, no luck. Thanks... -- Snowman

Installing GLIBC for CentOS 4.6
I'd like to modify pthread library ( e.g. manipulating some functions ) in glibc, so I want to compile and install modified glibc. However, I failed to compile glibc and need some help. How can I fix the problem? Here is the process that I've tried. 1. download glibc-2.3.4.tar.tar from http://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/glibc/ 2. unzip glibc-2.3.4.tar.tar 3. make build-folder [root at localhost /]#

Segmentation Faults on DomU
Hi All, I am seeing strange segmentation faults on DomU after I install gcc ( or for that matter any s/w with yum). I am using PV linux images. - I am using the source for xen 3.0.4 from Xensource and I built Xen + Dom0 from source, and booted Dom0. - I then downloaded the fedora6 file system images from jailtime.org and booted the DomU using the kernel from the step above. - When I run

Installation using iconv from glibc
The R Installation and Administration manual section A.1 states that glibc should provide a suitable iconv function, but I can't get R's configure script to accept/validate iconv on a Linux platform I need to support using glibc 2.20. Is glibc is actually compatible (and/or is gnu libiconv essentially the only path)? If glibc should work, what should I check to troubleshoot my

Accidentally removed glibc & glibc-devel :: Help
Hi, I attempted to ugprade glibc & glibc-devel and ended up removing them entirely by accident. *idiot* What are the steps needed to get glibc back onto my system. Absolutely nothing is working at the moment, rpm, yum, etc. I presume I'm going to have to boot from a rescue CD of some kind. If someone could outline how to do this, or point me to some docs I would be most grateful.
