CuteFTP and sftp.
For those who did not get the annoucement. CuteFTP is now claiming to support sftp as stated in the RFC. And at first glace it *SORTA* works.=) I can upload files, but the directory listings are broken (it does not display anything) and as a result download won't work (since cuteftp rquires the file to be in the directory listing to get). I'm going to back down a releas of

RNG not initialised for sftp only under Solaris.
...channel 0: open confirm rwindow 0 rmax 16384 RNG not initialised [..] The solution is to add 'init_prng();' to the main() of sftp.c. Why sftp is caring about such things boggles my mind. =) Scp sure does not nor does sftp-server, and it was my impression (by glacing at the code) that sftp.c pretty much piggy backing ontop of ssh like scp. Looks to be somewhere in the interactive_loop() code. - Ben

Status of speexdsp?
Hello everyone, while I've been a user of both Vorbis and Speex since about 2005, this is the first time I write to the dev mailing list. I created ports for both SpeexDSP and Speex for Ravenports and have a question regarding the status of SpeexDSP. Ravenports is a new universal package building system for *nix systems that supports Linux, FreeBSD, DragonflyBSD and Solaris (with

What's the performance of the intel x3100 like?
I know at first glace you might think it's terrible, but in my experience in windows it's pretty good. my question really is, do intel drivers suffer from the same or similar issues that ati drivers do when it comes to running directx games under wine? or is it simply a matter of power? it'd really be a shame to not be able to play even old games on my laptop

[PATCH] Add a Maximum Idle Time (1.2.2)
The attached patch adds an option (off by default to preserve current behavior) to set a timeout on the select() statement that waits for input in clientloop.c. This fixes a timeout issue for me (explained below) and probably also fixes the timeouts mentioned in last month's thread "Idle time out". The patch is also available by http from:

Suggest changing dirhash defaults for FreeBSD 9.2.
I have been experimenting with dirhash settings, and have scoured the internet for other peoples' experience with it. (I found the performance improvement in compiling has forestalled the need to add an SSD drive. ;-) I believe that increasing the following values by 10 would benefit most FreeBSD users without disadvantage. vfs.ufs.dirhash_maxmem: 2097152 to 20971520
