smbd pids
just noticed the following problem..
after running samba 302rc1(as pdc) for a few day's.
old SMBD pid's are left in the procces tree..
eating memory and cpu time, causing linux to overload and not function
annymore.
after stopping samba, the smbd pid's will stay.
stopping samba the 2nd time will do the trick, they finaly disapear...
so you have to stop samba twice.. ??

problems with java under debian (including the R help page search engine)
...r, the Java virtual machine invariable crashes (I
paste in below the bud report broduced by bug buddy). I have tried uninstalling
and re-installing my java -- the sun-java6-*, see below for output from
dpkg --list -- to no avail. I uninstalled it and used various other java:s
(including the ecj-gjc and so on), with little success.
However, I then noticed this did not affect other users on my system. If I
create a new user and fire up the R help search page, it works as it should.
This led me to search for java settings under my standard account that are
causing the crash, but not amount o...

Ferret not able to read a Lucene Index?
Hi all,
Having problems trying to get Ferret to read an index generated by
Lucene.
Am I right in thinking Ferret should be able to read a Lucene generated
index no problem?
Using the code snippets detailed in
http://www.ruby-forum.com/topic/64099#new
Any advice gratefully received.
Many Thanks,
Steven
