search for: giver

hi, I like to find a pattern within a giver sequence. There might be multiple occurences of the pattern. I like to know the number of occurences and the positions if possible. On fedora core 4 and wine version 20050930 and CVS from 20051005 I get wineesd error during make depend. Can anyone giver me hints on figuring out whats making it hiccup.
