asterisk-backports.org giveaway
hi all
I created asterisk-backports.org a year back for backporting stuff
from unstable or new versions of asterisk to stable or older
versions. now, since we're leaving asterisk for callweaver, and since
the domain is about to expire, I have no more needs for this project.
However, if someone wants to take over, be my guest :)

TPROXY configuration
I''m trying to get TPROXY / Squid running and I have a few questions...
I found this page:
http://www.shorewall.net/Shorewall_Squid_Usage.html#TPROXY
However, it doesn''t explain what I''m seeing in the configuration.
For the zone file, do I keep my loc and net configurations and just add
the following to the file?

or do I remove the loc and net zones and

multiplication question
folks,
is there a clever way to compute the sum of the product of two vectors such that the common indices are not multiplied together?
i.e. if i have vectors X, Y, how can i compute
Sum (X[i] * Y[j])
i != j
where i != j
also, what if i wanted
Sum (X[i] * Y[j] * R[i, j])
i != j
where R is a matrix?
thanks,

Proper setup for a router with 2 interfaces and a bridge on one?
I''m working on setting up a new router/server/etc. box.
I''m using Proxmox as the base system (Debian Lenny basically).
I''m trying to figure out the right way to configure Shorewall on it.
I''ve looked at some of the bridging info but they seem to all be
talking about single-interface setups.
Could someone look over my setup and give me some input into the

I've a question about the syntax of the valid users option. Any help is
greatly appreciated!
Here is the Background:
samba 3.0.4
Linux as Domain Member
Active Directory, not in Native Mode
Compiler opions: --with-winbind --with-pam --with-smbmount
The goal is to authenticate via the Windows Domain and allow access via
Windows groups.
The syntax in my smb.conf looks like this:

Monitoring qdisks and classes.
Are there any tools like iptraf or top to display tc stats? I would like
to see things like flowes(TCP or UDP connections) as well as simple per
second stats. I''m trying to monitor my p2p uploads and network
connections to see if things are getting into the right class.
I used to use mrtg for this, with some perl scripts I wrote. This project
of mine has long since bitrotten.

Hi again!
I'm trying to download SJava from the http://www.omegahat.org/RSJava/

I'm trying to get the binary.
I download the version from BDR's website.

UEFI and PXE
Once upon a time, Steven Tardy <sjt5atra at gmail.com> said:

You cut out the part of the email where the OP said that the UEFI system
was ignoring the next-server part of the DHCP reply and trying to TFTP
to the DHCP server instead of the TFTP server. Of course that got ICMP
unreachable, but it isn't a firewall problem.

samba pam kerberos
Hi Everybody,
We are working on samba 3.0.2a with sun
kerberos SEAM and Netscape iDirectory Server support.
We are able to integrate samba with ldap support. we
tried integrater kerberos for authentication. We found
a solution using pam via pam_krb5 module provided by
the sun solaris 8.
One important fact we found out using samba pam
authentication, it directly calls for an account

DNS load-balancing & SRV records
Let's say I have a third-party device acting as a sip<-->pstn gateway, a
cluster of three asterisk servers, and a teensy bit of dns knowledge.
Let's now say those asterisk servers are a1.company.com at 192.168.0.1,
a2.company.com at 192.168.0.2, and a3.company.com at 192.168.0.3.
1. If I setup round-robin dns like so:
asterisk.company.com. IN A 192.168.0.1

stats::line() does not produce correct Tukey line when n mod 6 is 2 or 3
A usually trustworthy R correspondent posted a pure R implementation on SO at some point in his lost youth:
https://stackoverflow.com/questions/3224731/john-tukey-median-median-or-resistant-line-statistical-test-for-r-and-line
This one does indeed generate the line of identity for the (1:9, 1:9) case, so I do suspect that we have a genuine scr*wup in line().
Notice, incidentally, that
