2.0.0: lost localized characters in smbstatus
...ba 2.0.0, if I connect with smbclient to a Samba share I see those characters
ok, but smbstatus omits the localized characters in locked files so that "libert?.txt" is:
libert?.txt with 1.9.18p8
and
libert.txt with 2.0.0
Do I need to change some settings with 2.0.0?
Thanks.

2.0.3: smbtar slow in restoring to a pc
...linux box to the pc takes:
1.9.18: 10sec
2.0.2/2.0.3: 7min 30sec
The tar made with 2.0.2 is restored in 10sec if I use smbclient1.9.18.
I used:
smbclient '\\pc\share' -N -Tc filename.tar
smbclient '\\pc\share' -N -Tx filename.tar
Is this a smbclient problem?
Thanks.

2.0.3: character set problem
...-1" doesn't even show those files and
doesn't allow the win95 clients to see those files; without "character set =
iso8859-1" it shows the files with the same problem affecting smbstatus (the
win95 clients see those files ok though).
Should I change my settings??

german umlaute win95 client vs. Linux-Samba file server
Hello,
I've a problem known especially to german speaking users (and other
nationalities using special characters).
I'm using Samba 1.9.18 and a linux 2.0.35 kernel
I want to create a directory or file with a name containing german umlaute
from the win95 client
so that I can see it on the linux machine with the equal characters I've
used under win95.
On the win95 machine the new

I've got a problem restoring a tar archive, with subdirs inside, using smbtar from the Linux server to a win95 pc.
I made the tar with smbtar.
When restoring to a win95, the subdirs are not restored ('aaaaa' is a directory):

smbtar: stdout & gzip
I need to zip the output of smbtar, but it seems to me that the tar extensions of smbclient don't support any zip option; if I'm wrong please tell me and stop further reading :)
I'm trying to pipe the output of smbclient/smbtar to gzip.
Basically something like:
smbclient '\server\share' -E -N -Tc - | gzip > test.tar.gz
However I have a problem with smbclient tarring to
