According to described security bug we are in danger.
What do you suggest? Wait for gitco update or build xen own with patch?

Xen branches
Hi Everyone,
As some of you are aware, I''m a very security paranoid person. I guess this is a good way to be :)
Anyway, is the 3.4.x branch of Xen still "supported"? By supported, I mean are security and bug fixes still being developed? Or is everything moving to 4.0?
I''ve set up some Xen infrastructure using Xen 3.4.2 (due to upgrade to 3.4.3 in a couple of

Centos 5.7 Xen 4.1 AMD 64 from gitco cannot attach usb port to domU windows 7
Hi.
Just wondering is someone have been able to connect usb memory sticks
in xen 4.1-gitco running hvm windows 7?
I use xen 4.1 from gitco, is working without any issue, I need support
for a usb memory stick, but I had not been able to make this works.
Reading xm commands and process, first my MB Biostar A780L3L v6 wont
support IOMMU.

Xen version
...EN in production, but we are facing
some issues regarding the 3.0.3 version of the xen hypervisor and windows
paravirtualization. The drivers we are using are from here (
http://wiki.xensource.com/xenwiki/XenWindowsGplPv). The solution we found is
upgrading to xen 3.4.2, using a strange repository (gitco.de), and
everything seems to work. Now the question is: would you recomand using the
3.0.3 kernel provided by CentOS in production and searching for other
paravirtualization drivers, or go with 3.4.2? Is this version of the
hypervisor stable?

Recommended Best way to Upgrade/Update Xen
This might be a silly question for most, but since Xen is ever so
changing with regular changesets and updates, what is the "best
practice" way to upgrade / update or even downgrade Xen?
1.) Is it by booting into regular Linux Kernel without Xen, do a
complete uninstall of the old Xen, than install the newly compiled Xen?
2.) Is it by booting into regular Linux Kernel without Xen,

installing Windows 2008 R2
Hi all,
I''ve been trying to install Windows Server 2008 R2 under Xen 3.1 on
Red Hat, but it keeps blue screening after the first reboot during the
install. It seems to only affect 2008 R2. Windows Server 2008
installs fine, rebooting a couple of times along the way.
With R2, it will go through the initial unpack and install, and then
it reboots. I''m installing it

"couldn''t find bootloader config file in the image provided."
I attempted to install Ubuntu 10.04 as a domU on my CentOS dom0. The process I used was:
wget http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/lucid/main/installer-amd64/current/images/netboot/xen/xm-debian.cfg
Edited the config file to use the proper logical volume for its install, and stepped through the install, installed GRUB to the MBR, and all seemed well.
However, upon

Shared storage between open Xen, VMware ESX, XenServer, KVM and a normal Linux...
Guys!
I have one fiber channel IBM storage (10T) and 8 HP Proliant servers with
32G of RAM on each and 1 HP with 4G of RAM.
My question is:
* How to use the same storage (block device) with all my different
virtualization servers simultaneously?
I have 2 open source Xen with CentOS 5.4, 2 VMWare ESX, 2 Citrix XenServer,
2 KVM powered by Ubuntu and 1 Debian exporting the IBM storage to a SAN

Xen3.3 rpm for 32Bit?
...3.3 on CentOS 5.5 on an older machine which is
not 64bit capable.
Since this is just a "first impression" test I do not want to fuzz with
compiling the kernels and tools myself (that comes in a later step).
Can someone please point me to a repo with 32bit Xen3.3 kernels for
CentOS 5? GITCO supplies 64bit kernels only, and googling brought up
nothing else.
Thanks for any hint or help.

Install ubunto domU
Dear *,
I''m more used to work with RedHat like OSes. Still, I did not denied the
request from a user who wants a domU based on ubunto. I usually use
virt-install to do the job, with a script similar to this one:
#!/bin/sh
BASE=SL-4.7-i386-pv \
virt-install --nographics \
--nonsparse \
--paravirt \
--noreboot \

82574L PCI Express NIC in Xen
...was added in 2.6.28, but buy.com
lists the NIC as supporting Xen, so I am not sure what to think. Can anyone
tell me whether the NIC would be supported in Fedora 8 or Centos 5.3? While
I am guessing it wouldn''t, as I don''t see any kernel rpms, would using Xen
3.4 from http://www.gitco.de/repo/ with CentOS increase or decrease the
likelihood that the NIC would be supported? Also, can anyone tell me if
3.4.1 rpms are on the way to gitco? I need to use GPLPV drivers in Windows
XP, and I understand the newer versions to work better with 3.4.1 than with
prior versions (though I don...

CentOS dom0 and domU kernel with xen 3.4.3?
Hi folks,
I hope this is the right place to ask - if not I can switch to the
CentOS mailing list.
I am running GITCOs 3.4.3 hypervisor with original RHEL5.5/CentOS5.5
kernels in dom0 and domU. I have phenonema I want to get rid of (like
time running wild - really wild).
So I am looking for a way to compile a kernel with all CentOS
refinements/backports/additions and xen 3.4.3. I have googled quite a
few hour...

Re: Installing Xen
...ike virt-install.
virt-install is not part of Xen. It''s a separate tool.

Centos5.3 has Xen 3.1 built in. Simply install it with yum.
If you want Xen 3.3.1, the easiest way is to use gitco repo
http://www.gitco.de/repo/

blkback message
Hi Everyone,
I''m seeing this message pop up on my console every now and again (or
something similar):
blkback: ring-ref 8, event-channel 6, protocol 2 (x86_32-abi)
Is this a cause for concern?
I''m using Xen 4.1.0 from Gitco and using the CentOS Dom0 kernel
(2.6.18-238.12.1.el5xen)
Any help is appreciated
Thanks
