Bug in formals<-
I think this is new since a previous version of R:
> h <- function(x, trantab) trantab[x]
> w <- 6:4
> names(w) <- c('cat','dog','giraffe')
> w
cat dog giraffe
6 5 4
>
> formals(h) <- list(x=numeric(0), trantab=w)
> h
function (x = numeric(0), trantab = c(6, 5, 4))

You can see that the names

Fast searching from android device with Dovecot/Maildir
Hello,
I am using dovecot as an imap server, mail is stored in mail directories.
Configuration is below.
One mail directory has about 14 Gb of mail in the inbox and .Sent
directories.
Searching from an Android phone with gmail is slow or doesn't work (it
times out).
Is there a configuration for Dovecot that can improve this? A better
e-mail client
for Android?
Thanks,
John

R - box design-scatter plot für means/regression/lme?
Dear All!
It's now weeks that I'm going crazy with R, and as I'm a new user I now ask for help (also because I still have only a few days to finish..)...
So shortly I describe you my Experiment in which I was looking for the decomposition of herbivore dung under different treatments:
I made a box design experiment which is structured in the following way:
I collected dung from 2

handy!
* New Markaby::Fragment class adds much flexibility. If it discovers you are
using a tag as a string,
the tag is removed from the stream. (<tt>div { strong("Real") + " Giraffes"

not, pass it as an arg.
* Again, escaped: <tt>h1("Me & You Have a Giraffe")</tt>
* And, not escaped: <tt>h1 { "<a href=''/''>Home</a>&qu...

asrock 775 dual-vsta mb and linux with sata raid
Hello,
I have the subject mentioned mb and I am trying to install centos 4.4 with
sata raid enabled, but linux is not seeing the drives?
I tried to load via sata raid driver, no luck there.
I guess I could try legacy mode in the bios, but I was hoping there is
another way around to load linux with the raid?
Thanks....

Fast searching from android device with Dovecot/Maildir
I dont't know the capabilities of gmail, but IMAP supports server side search which is quite fast if the Solr full text search plugin for dovecot is used (wiki.dovecot.org/Plugins/FTS/Solr). For debian "dovecot-solr" can be used.
For Android K9-Mail does not really support server side search, Aquamail does and for other mail clients I don't know.

virNodeInfo returns MBytes instead of bytes
Hi,
http://www.libvirt.org/html/libvirt-libvirt.html#virNodeInfo says that
memory size is in kilobytes, however when I use this call I get an answer
in Megabytes, see below. The hypervisor has 16 GB of RAM.

Collecting system stats
Hi,
I am trying to create a report across all my KVM hypervisors using libvirt
API and I need some assistance in figuring out the right API calls. My
report will contain the total available memory, CPU, disk across all
hypervisors, versus the amount used by the virtual machines. This report
will help figure out if we are running low on hypervisor disk, CPU or
memory and if we need to add more.

Comparing three groups, data: present, absent
Dear R-Experts, Dear friends of dung.
I have a statistical Problem, to which nobody I asked could give me an answer. Maybe you can.
I was in the African-Savanna and made a Dung-Monitoring. This means I walked randomly over the field and for every Dung-Event I found I noted following parameters:
Species (Waterbuck, Giraffe, Reedbuck);
Age-Category (less than a week, more than a week & less

winpopup
Hi,
I have a linux (redhat 6.0) print server and I am running samba 2.0.3-8
serving win95 machines. I would like the print server to send a message to
the win95 when a print job is completed. To do that, I run winpopup on
win95. However, if win95 users close winpopup, they do not receive any
message. Is there any more realiable method to communicate with win95
machines?
I would appreciate any

NT MD4 password encryption question
Are there multiple ways that Windows clients encrypt passwords? I'm seeing
different behavior between two clients.
On one, I can access a Samba share just fine. On the other, using the same
username and password to access the same share, I get "incorrect password."
Looking for the difference in Samba debug traces, I find it comes down to

Re: Collecting system stats
If you need to continuously track libvirt metrics, you might want to
install Host sFlow agents on each of your KVM hypervisors:
http://host-sflow.sourceforge.net/
The Host sFlow agent is a lightweight daemon that links to the libvirt
library on the hypervisor and sends hypervisor and VM metrics using the
sFlow protocol to a central collector. You could use an sFlow analyzer like

Debian and Ubuntu packages of 1.0.17
I uploaded packages of 1.0.17 to Debian unstable more than a month ago, and
also updated the xapian-backports PPA on launchpad:
https://launchpad.net/~xapian-backports/+archive/ppa
But more recently and more notably, I've now uploaded backported packages for
Debian 5.0 (the current stable release, codename lenny) and Debian 4.0 (the
"oldstable" release, codename etch) to

It seems to me that when you setup an environement for a cron it just
recreate the crontab at each run even if the cron has not changed. Seems
it does not recognize actual environement settings. I put 2 environement

Managing packages which require a reboot
Hi,
I''m working on a method to manage packages which require a reboot after
being installed. I''m curious how other people are handling this problem.
Consider the resource:
pkg_deploy { "MacOSXUpdCombo10.4.9Intel.dmg": alias => macosx1049 }
I''d like to only install the package under if the following conditions
are met:
- No user is logged into the
