PDC without profiles?
...--
I'd like to try running Samba as a PDC simply for authentication -- that
is without doing any profile management, i.e. I'd like Windows to not
write anything to the network after logout. Is this possible with Samba?
I'm not seeing an obvious answer to this. Thanks!

Windows permissions
Greetings NG-
I'm putting together a Samba domain for the first time, using

profiles everywhere:
logon path =
Thanks to Josh Ginsberg and company for that one!
Now I have created one logon user and have logged on successfully from
a Win2k/pro machine without incident. However, this user does not have
Administrator privaledges on the windows machine. I need a samba domain

Compareing backends
How does the speed of SQL compare to the speed of LDAP? If the speeds
are comparable, why bother with LDAP, which doesn't handle writes very well?

Profiles upload but don't download?
...elete cached copies of
Roaming Profiles on Logout" flag, but it doesn't seem to have an effect.
Any suggestions on how to get these profiles to properly synchronize
themselves on login and logout? The smbd.log doesn't appear to contain
any useful information. Thanks!

RFC: Default File Permissions
Recently, the issue of copying file modes from remote sources was discussed
on the puppet-users mailing list[1], although it equally applies to owner
and group.
One issue is what permissions to apply to newly created files when none are
specified? Historically, Puppet has always copied the permissions from the
file source to the newly created one. However, this causes problems on
