MFC for sysctl descriptions
...le. On my system (4.8-STABLE), everything seems to work, and there have been no adverse effects from it. (That I am aware of at least) The patch is attached to this email, and is also available at: http://evo6.org/sysctl-mfc.patch I hope someone may find this useful. :) Very best regards, Andy Gilligan -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed... Wiki Access Request for Java How To's
Hello, My name is Sean Gilligan (wikiname: SeanGilligan) and I'd like to contribute to the CentOS wiki. Initially I'd like to do some documentation for Java (OpenJDK) on CentOS 5.3. I've used Fedora for years, but am getting tired of the obsolescence that keeps happening. I'm also very excited about having...

smbmount in 3beta3 dead?
I'm having some unusual results with smbmount. I've tried mounting multiple server shares from multiple servers with the same results. Here's my command line... /usr/sbin/smbmount //Gilligan/Homedir /mnt/mktg -o username=jlahners,password=xxxxxxx,debug=6 smbmount never returns however, the mount is established and I can view the entire directory structure as if the mount succeeded. Here's the debug output. Any help would be greatly appreciated! mount.smbfs started (version 3.0.0...

procfs + chmod = no go
Hello, I was wondering if it was possible to limit user access on /proc without having to use securelevels. For some reason chmod 751 /proc (or 750) does nothing. Is this possible on FreeBSD 4.9 ? Can't find anything about it in the manual pages. Just want to prevent lusers from running: for file in /proc/*/cmdline; do cat $file; echo; done Greetz, Jimmy Scott

NOSPAM on personal home pages not working as expected
I just setup a personal home page and the template had a section that I edited to look like this: [[MailTo(sean AT SPAMFREE msgilligan DOT com)]] I assumed it would use JavaScript to protect my e-mail address, but when I view source on the page it's right there: <p class="line862">Email: <a class="mailto" href="mailto:name at address.com">name at address.com</a> Not a big is...

CentOS 5.3 - OpenJDK vs. Sun JDK
What have people's experiences with CentOS 5.3 and OpenJDK for server apps (e.g. Tomcat) been so far? Has anyone found they've had to install the Sun JDK? If so, what was broken? Thanks, Sean

4GB limit with netstat
Hi, Was wondering if there are any plans to update either the kernel structures and/or netstat to show more than 4GB of traffic stats. For example, on a 4.8-STABLE machine: $ netstat -bI sis0 Name Mtu Network Address Ipkts Ierrs Ibytes ... sis0 1500 <Link#2> <mac-addr-hidden> 8789598 0 4103727771 ... <non-relevant parts removed> This shows that
