small office
What is the best cost effective solution for a small office: I need 3 FXS & 2 FXO. Can I hookup a TDM400P and 2 X100P on the same computer? Also, I saw some IP phones for $25.99 http://www.wosmile.com/cgi-bin/view_store_item.cgi?pid=4424&sid=5&category=1 Can I use them with asterisk? will they be able to do the same as the TDM400P? I read that to run the conference app Meetme you

IAXTEL toll-free gateway
I have been playing around with asterisk for a week or so now and haven't had too much trouble getting things to work but one thing seems to puzzle me. I have been patient hoping that there was a configuration error on the server or that the toll-free gateway was down but nothing has changed. I have the following configuration context for IAXTEL: [iaxtel] exten =>

Soft SIP phones (with RING !!)
Hi folks, well the easiest soft phone I have found (from this list) is the x-ten. great little piece of software. BUT, on a windows machine I need to plug in a USB device and find the software to drive it which can actually use a normal handset (similar to the s100p) but can be used to actually generate/answer the calls and actually rings when a call is received. Any ideas ?? Gary .

Prompt recording
Does anybody have useful tips on creating good quality recordings for use with prompts in asterisk? I'm interested in hearing input on hardware (mics, dats, sound cards, etc) and software (recording software, dsp) as well as recording techniques. Jerimiah Tularosa Communications

Unable to create channel of type 'Zap'
I've just installed an X100P, built the kernel module, and tried to use it to make an outgoing call (via a phone connected to an ATA-186). However, I just get a reorder tone and see this on the console: -- Executing Dial("SIP/ata1-4409", "Zap/1/5551212") in new stack NOTICE[1200825920]: File app_dial.c, Line 481 (dial_exec): Unable to create channel of type

SIP phone audio quality in conference bridge
Hello, I have an asterisk box (Debian, asterisk cvs, Duron 600mhz) and a couple of SIP phones connecting to it. Audio quality between the two SIP phones is fine, being native bridged ulaw, but when we both call into a bridge on the asterisk box the audio is cutting in and out and is generally unusable. My SIP phone is local to the box, the other is ~130-170ms away over an IPSEC vpn. Is there

Asterisk codec issue with sip / iax.
Hello, I am doing some testing with my brother. We both have asterisk running with a Cisco 7960 locally and it works great. Using SIP between the asterisk boxes works great also. If I use IAX to call his remote extension, it fails because the remote asterisk server tries to use GSM to talk to the 7960. I end up going to his voicemail, which works fine. If he calls the same way it has the
