rspec with continuations: very strange
...have written code which travels backwards through time:
http://www.vimeo.com/742590
This disturbs me immensely. If anyone can explain it, that would be cool.
I think it''s an illusion brought about by how RSpec wraps the code it
executes, and by the sheer weirdness of continuations.

sedwards@sedwards.com causes me to be knocked off the list
...en I get a mail from the list management to say that I've
been unsubscribed because of excessive bounces and it takes a single
click to re-register.
It's a bit of a niggle for me. What do you think I should do? Change my
servers so that I don't check sender domains?

put variable in session each time any controller runs?
...#39;'s what I''m trying to do. Does anyone know what the
best way to do it is? I have three controllers, each one has a hidden
tag, and I want each one to salt its respective tag with the name of
the action in effect, at the time that action runs, for every action
in the controller.

...lab.xiph.org/xiph/vorbis/-/issues/2335) also included in new version 1.3.7? If so can you please add it to release notes?
(I asked the same question in https://gitlab.xiph.org/xiph/vorbis/-/issues/2334).
Thanks again!

Hi Ralph,
Thank you so much for not only tracking down the fix for CVE-2018-10393 and adding the extra bounds check to bark_noise_hybridmp(), but also for releasing a...

unusual challenges speccing external software
...ink probably this approach is a good
direction, and that I should change the specs by making them more
specific. (For instance, there are places where I check that a
Generator subclass can do stuff, even though Generator itself isn''t
fully specced.) I''m not quite sure though.

Cant Log Into Terminal Using Winbind
...y/pam_stack.so service=system-auth
session required /lib/security/pam_stack.so service=system-auth
session optional /lib/security/pam_console.so
Any Help would be great. Also, all the .so files are inplace and correctly linked. Again, SAMBA shars works great using domain access.

coolest software ("coolest startups" re-asked)
...t;coolest startups" using Rails, I
think it''d have been better had I asked "coolest software." Besides
the obvious (37Signals, Typo, Yakima Herald, Odeo, Measure Map, etc.),
I''m just curious about other developments where people are using it to
make nifty stuff.

best way to modify spec (the command-line tool)?
...the cleanest way to implement this? Add a -profiling
command-line flag to spec itself? Is there a single point of entry and
exit for running individual specs that I can put the code around? It''s
currently manually hacked onto each example group individually and it
seems a bit untidy.

rails internals?
Is there a list for discussing Rails internals or is that kind of one
of those jealously guarded secret things?
Also, I seem to be being a bit of a prat today, but if you read this closely:
http://www.rubyonrails.org/images/headlines/community.gif
Bit of a grammatical error there. (Sorry!)

coolest startup?
...answer. I''m curious
as to what kind of other developments are happening. Are there a lot
of startups using Rails in the first place? Or do most of you who are
lucky enough to do Rails for a living (I''m coding Java, bleah) work in
large corporations? Or is it somewhere in between?

(ps, yes, if you''re wondering, my reasons for asking aren''t entirely
hypothetical)

R 1.9.0 and pred.rpart
...e just upgraded from R 1.7.3 to R 1.9.0 and have found that the
predict function no longer works for rpart:

Error in predict.rpart(hmmm, sim3[1:10, ]) :
couldn't find function "pred.rpart"
I have re-installed the rpart package to no avail. Any ideas?
