Time taken Backup using ZFS Send Receive
I have been using ZFS send and receive for a while and I noticed that when I try to do a send on a zfs file system of about 3 gig plus it took only about 3 minutes max.
zfs send application/sample at back > /backup/sample.zfs
However when I tried to send a file system that''s about 20 gig, it took almost an hour. I would had expected that since 3 gig took 3 mins, then 20 gig should

Centos 7.0 and mismatched swap file
Everyone,
I am putting together a new mail server for our firm using a SuperMicro
with Centos 7.0. When performed the install of the os, I put 16 gigs of
memory in the wrong slots on the mother board which caused the
SuperMicro to recognize 8 gigs instead of 16 gigs. When I installed
Centos 7.0, this error made the swap file 8070 megs instead of what I
would have expected to be a over 16000

segfaults with 8 gig of ram
Hello All.
I have five Centos 4.4 x86_64 (amd fx-62) boxes with
4 gig of Corsair dual channel ram running
kernel 2.6.9-42.0.10.EL (smp).
The sixth box is the same except for video card and ram.
It is using 8gig of GSkill dual channel ram and has
a very cheap ATI video card in it. This box will segfault
on boot unless I use noapic acpi=off and nolapic. Even
with these boot params, the box is not

Cygwin, Rsync, and Raid5
Hello all!
I've got CGYWIN running on an NT4 server, which in turn allows me to run Rsync as a daemon on this system. And might I say, it works most excellently, except for one flaw. It doesn't work on my raid drive(s). I have a 56 gig NTFS RAID5 drive running off an adaptec raid-port controller card. I have two other drives in this system, a 4 gig SCSI boot drive, and 60 gig IDE

compaq r4000 32 bit and 64 bit install
Gents,
I first installed the 32 bit version (as you might have read) of centos 4.2,
after downloading x86_64 the install process/progress is about the same.
going VERY slow...
The screen for formatting the partitions took a LONG time
(3 partitions 10 GIG, 2 GIG swap and 50 GIG).
While on that screen and moving the mouse it lagged big time and
could not keep up.
Anyway just reporting that so far

Photoshop CS2 and Memory + Image Cache issue
Hi guys,
I have a DUO CORE E8400 (3.0 ghz) and 4 gigs RAM (800mhz)
Currently using WINE 1.0 and Photoshop CS2...
My issue is how we can increase the limit of the memory ram in my Photoshop preferences panel under Memory and Image Cache from 2 gigs to 4 gigs RAM?
It doesn't seem to realize I have 4 gigs ram?
Cheers!

stalling during delta processing
I have a 29 Gig full backup on a remote server (lets call if fedor) that is called Kbup_1.
I have a 1.3 Gig incremental backup on my local server.
I have rsync 2.6.2 on both servers. Both are RedHat Linux 9.1 on i-686 hardware platforms.
I issue the command "time rsync -avv --rsh=rsh --stats /test/Kibbutz/Kbup_1 fedor://test/Kibbutz". The synch takes ~5 minutes of real time and about

error rsyncing large file
Trying to rsync a rather large file from a windows server to a centos server
and all but this is working fine.
As it's a 20 gig file I am trying to send the diff of with a -c, I suspect over
the low bandwidth this presents an issue. I also stage this file locally on another
centos server and could calc the diff and create a patch and send that, comparing
checksums etc...

A little off topic but....
I need to put a 24 port Gig PoE switch into a small office - no computer
room / rack etc. All CAT5 terminates near the owners desk (smart huh?).
I want to put a PoE switch in place, with 24 ports and Gig speed. Everyone

Anyone know of a quiet one?
Thanks

I'm wondering if it is to much machine for Centos to run..
It is a Generic machine using a Tyan Thunder motherboard running (8)

gig of ram. (2) SCSI 146 Seagate Drives. ATI Graphics built onto the board.

Gig with Adaptive Path
Adaptive Path is looking for a FreeBSD expert to help us wrangle a
couple of FreeBSD servers into an orderly bunch. This short term
contract requires that you love FreeBSD and like setting up web servers
that will experience significant load while requiring high availability
to boot. In addition to server setup, you will help plan for the future
