Existing files don't show up in share, new files do
I am suddenly no longer able to see any existing files on one of my shares, from my Windows clients. I have a Linux server (Fedora Core 8) which used to be my firewall and router as well as file and print server. There are two Samba shares on it I have mounted on various Windows clients: my home directory and a multimedia directory with my music and videos, etc. I mount the former as H: on all my

exporting an FUSE base file system to windows
Hi, What I wanted to do was to export an FUSE based filesystem mounted on linux to a windows box using samba. I can browse and navigate the fuse filesystem without problems on the linux box. With smbd running I can even navigate the filesystem using smbclient. Unfortunately when I try to access the exported file system from WinNT the mountpoint of the filesystem shows up as a zero size file

Directory with large number of files (follow-up)
Hello all, This is a follow-up to my post a few weeks ago about poor performance when serving files from a directory with a large number of files (in this case over 600 000 files). I traced this down to two places in the code: 1) The trans2 routine get_lanman2_dir_entry loops through the entire directory looking for possible matches. I can see why this is the best idea for the general case (better than doing all possible variations on the name). However, in the large number of files case, it takes quite a long time to loop through the directory (1/2 million files)...
