Slow Access Database on Samba
Dear All,
We have an access database running on a Samba share (Samba version
3.0.10-1.4E) with a gigabit connection to the network. The front end of the
databases are on the client machines with linked tables stored in a separate
mdb file on the linux server.
For some reason the database runs very slowly when it is set up in this way.
I tested copying a 10 MB file onto the samba share and it

oplocks and pagemaker files
SuSE 7.2, Samba 2.2.6
User plaform WIN98se
Was wondering if someone could point me to information regarding oplocks (I
read the man on smb.conf regarding that and level2 oplocks)...
I needed to set oplocks = no and level2 oplocks = no in order for them to
be able to open pagemaker files from the samba server...otherwise it would
say 'can not open file'
I am just trying to get a grip on

Slow performance with QuickBooks
I have spent much of the day today researching performance tuning with
samba. I have tried everything that I can find out about how to make
performance faster. I checked disk performance with Bonnie, installed FTP
and tested a transfer that way, achieving 6-7 MB / second. about 30 seconds
for 150 MB file. I was finally able to achieve those speeds on a file
transfer to the server through

Excessive traffic causing slow logons
I am seeing some extremely slow logons to my SUSE servers. All are
configured exactly the same. When I attempt to log on, I can enter my
domain (AD) account without any problems. I then enter my password and
sit and wait for several minutes until it eventually takes me to my
desktop. In attempting to debug the problem, we have been able to see
millions of calls to the domain controller. They

3000'ish Open Files - causes network connection to be reset from single machine
Samba_Version: 2.2.6
Server_OS: Mandrake 8.2
Client_OS: NT 4 workstation
There seems to be a issue on a Samba server when NT telnet sessions have
roughly
1500-1600 files open on a samba server. The client has a Clipper database
application that opens roughly 150 file handles per session. When logged
into
the NT4sp6a workstation machine locally, everything is fine. I am able to
