Geospatial matching status?
Hi
Does geospatial coordinates indexing/matching works in 1.4.5?
I have found almost no documentation on this but it seems the
development is stopped (merged?).
Regards
Emmanuel

r-cran-rgdal: dependency on libgdal1 unsatisfied in ubuntu 12.04?
Hi
I am trying to install the rgdal package through r-cran-rgdal (I had
added the ppa), and run into an error in Ubuntu 12.04:
r-cran-rgdal : D?pend: libgdal1 (>= 1.9.0) mais il n'est pas installable
in English, libgdal1 1.9 does not seem available in Ubuntu 12.04 (I
think version 1.7) comes.
And indeed, a:
$sudo apt-get install libgdal1
Gives also an error message, saying libgdal1

Should do.

It was merged years ago (it was in dev release 1.3.0 on 2012-03-14).

Panning map to a point vs. setCenter
Several map providers have functions to pan to a location, as opposed
to the direct setCenter call. Panning animates the move from one point
to another. To implement this in mapstraction, I created a panCenter
function.
I don''t know how to go about committing the change to svn, or who
decides whether my naming convention is worthy, but I thought I''d
share the function

Has anyone got an elegant way of doing that?
(My background is in C++ I would tend to use loops
but that is not very elegant in R, isn't it?)

Mapstraction Sandbox & V2 push
Greetings from the day of rest after a week of Where. It was a great
time out here - and there is a lot of interest in the community around
Mapstraction.
The new Sandbox (http://mapstraction.appspot.com) made surprisingly
quick rounds and lots of kudos. It will be a great place to demo
Mapstraction and encourage developers.
We had a very good discussion about Mapstraction at WhereCamp. Pamela

Mapstraction V2 Architecture Demo
Hi all,
I''ve been fiddling with some mapstraction architecture ideas and before I
lose my mind (caller, calleee, apply, arguments, pop!), I wanted to share my
progress.
Please see here for details:

I''m by no means a javascript guru, so I would appreciate any feedback you
may have :)
Kind regards,
Rob

issue with testInstalledPackage
...erm by adding mets to my do-not-check list.
Footnote: the newer "check_packages_in_dir" routine doesn't work for me.?? The biggest
reason is that it doesn't have a way to give a list of packages to skip.? My little
desktop box doesn't have every linux library (cryptography, geospatial, etc.), nor do I
load up bioconductor; which leads to a boatload of false positives.? I keep adding things
but the packages add faster.

map at fips level using multiple variables
Hi, I just started playing with county FIPS feature in maps package
which allows geospatial visualization of variables on US county level.
Pretty cool.
I did some search but couldn't find answer to this question--how can I
map more than 2 variables on US map? For example, you can map by the
breakdown of income or family size. How do you further breakdown based
on the values o...
