libc6-xen not used on AMD Geode LX system
Hi, I'm trying to install xen+Debian Etch on a Geode LX system. Xen boots fine, but although the package "libc6-xen" is installed I have a large number of such errors: 4gb seg fixup, process syslogd (pid 1878), cs:ip 73:b7f24610 All processes triggers it, and from what I've found on the web it's a sign that libc6-xen is not recognized. Indeed:

CentOS 5.x on Geode LX
Greetings all- I'm currently working with CentOS 5.x (various version 5.0 - 5.5) attempting to run it on a system based on the AMD Geode LX CPU. There are known issues with this CPU running Centos 5, specifically those listed here: The kernel and system run fine on the Geode LX, but the installer detects the CPU as i586. Since there is no

Unable to boot from USB CD-ROM on AMD Geode LX800
I'm trying to build a bootable CD for an Advantech PCM-4153 board (based on an AMD Geode LX800) that will allow to boot from USB CD-ROM drive. I've created an ISO that will load ISOLINUX (3.51) and appears to load the kernel and initrd images, but reboots the system when it tries to run the kernel. When I use either isolinux.bin and isolinux-debug.bin, the last messages I see on screen

xf86-video-amd has been renamed xf86-video-geode
Courtesy notice for developers - the xf86-video-amd driver has been renamed to xf86-video-geode to avoid confusion with AMD's other GPU offerings. This should help cut down on mis-directed bug reports and questions. Thanks, Jordan -- Jordan Crouse Systems Software Development Engineer Advanced Micro Devices, Inc.

Optimizing on AMD Geode (MMX, no SSE)
I'm trying to improve Opus on an AMD Geode CPU, which has limited SSE support (called 3DNow!), but MMX. Without optimizations I can only encode 16 bit audio @16KHz with complexity up to 2-3 without underruns. I tried compiling with SSE2/4 optimizations, but all I got was a crash with SIGILL, so I looked into optimized code and found that a good starting point was the dot product, so

Cross compiling Asterisk, Dahdi..
Is there a proper, documented way to cross compile DAHDI and Asterisk for a processor/system other than the one you're currently typing on? Now.. I have been doing this for some time, but it's been really frustrating every time I change/upgrade, etc. I've just tried to compile DAHDI for an AMD Geode system on my development system which is Intel Atom. Building the kernel

Asterisk on Pcengines Alix board
Hi all, I have successfully compiled and installed Asterisk on an Alix board (AMD Geode 500 Mhz + 256 Mb RAM) on top of Voyage linux (a Debian variant). I'm using it at home for a month. I wondered how much it could be loaded, so I tested it with pbx-test: I could place up to 15 simultaneous SIP calls before it got no more responsive. All in all a good, stable and cheap solution for home

[LLVMdev] [PATCH] Do not generate nopl instruction on CPUs that don't support it.
Hi This patch fixes code generation bug - 586-class CPUs don't support the nopl instruction and some 686-class CPUs don't support it too. I created bug 17792 for that. BTW. I think you should also optimize padding on these CPUs - instead of a stream of 0x90 nops, you should generate variants of "lea (%esi), %esi" instruction like gcc. This patch disables generation of

OT: VIA Mini-ITX, Asterisk, and hardware
Hello everyone, Does anyone out there have actual experience with running * on a mini-itx board from VIA? They look good, but I have some reserves because of VIA's problems with PCI latency in recent years (audio dropouts, wierd things happening). I am looking at the EPIA CL-10000. For $270, I can get a CL-10000 (1ghz C3, dual ethernets, etc), 256mb RAM, and a nice small (12 x 2 x 11)

[LLVMdev] [PATCH] Do not generate nopl instruction on CPUs that don't support it.
Please include a testcase with the patch. gas uses " nopl 0x0(%eax)" for k6_2. Are you sure it is a gas bug? tinc throughput on alix machines
Hi, I've setup a wlan ap using a an alix 2d2 (AMD Geode LX 500 Mhz + AES Offload) and am now trying to encapsulate the wlan traffic into a vpn (tap bridge). Though even when disabling crypto and digest (there is a crypto engine onboard can be setup to handle tinc encryption), the best throughput I get is aroung 2,9 MByte per second (wget+http) (even if the client is run locally). The network

Kernel panic from install CD
I have a bunch of DecTOPs. Use the AMD Geode chip. Yesterday I upgraded one of them, and got the dreaded Kernel panic. Something about powernowk8. I could boot up with the old kernel, though. I know I have to put in a bug report on this, will do shortly, but first wanted to try a fresh install on another DecTOP. At the prompt, I specified: linux askmethod After it loaded the kernel, it
