Gentoo and Asterisk - any experiences?
Hi,
In constant search for optimization, a friend told us about his experience
with Gentoo Linux-distro. He claimed that he doubled the performance of his
server by changing to Gentoo from Debian.
Does anyone have any experience with running Asterisk on a Gentoo linux?

Hello.
Someone was talking about this (undefining the VM) would not be
neccessary anymore when qemu-1.5 has been released. Is that true?

Updating to Tinc 1.0.14 on Gentoo Linux
Hello,
I'm upgrading to 1.0.14
I did some manual tricks in my Gentoo Portage because seems that
upstream Gentoo did not update the portage yet, does anybody know how
to Contact Gentoo Linux to have the package updated ?
Question 1:
I notice in my log file I had many entries like this with 1.0.13:
1307284053 tinc.ninux[15152]: Lost 251 packets from GREG1

Xen 4.0 on gentoo hotplug scripts problem?
Hi,
Ive just tried Xen 4.0 on Gentoo with 2.6.32 (also tried 2.6.31)
forward ported dom0 kernel, Xen itself seems to boot up successfully
and everything else on the system is working normally, but when I try
to start a domain xm create appears to hang and eventually I get a
hotplug scripts error:
Error: Device 2049 (vbd) could not be connected.
/etc/xen/scripts/block failed; error detected.

"No space left on device" at 69%
Hi,
there''s no information about reporting bugs in the btrfs wiki, so I try it
here.
For testing purposes, I have put all my Gentoo portage (build, distfiles, etc.)
related LVs into one 10G btrfs with 4 subvolumes.
While building OpenOffice yesterday, it failed with a "No space left on device"
error, although the LV was only 69% full in total.

glusterfs and samba (file-max limit reached)
Recently a gluster I setup got mounted on a server that exports it
through samba. It appears to work till a point. Unexpectedly on heavy
usage the nodes happen to reach the max file descriptors opened limit
really easily.
Anybody else has experience on it? Is that kind of usage supported.
currently one node seems to have surpassed about 3M open files even if
the samba server claims to have

A few patches to git MASTER
Gentoo bundles flac 1.2.1 with numerous patches applied.
Some of these patches are already included in upstream flac-dev (for
example the gcc 4.3 cstring issue).
Below are the patches supplied by Gentoo (merged against MASTER) and with
the Changelog explanations of them as well as the discussion link
surrounding the patch:

Unable to boot installation ISO
Hi,
I build Xen 4.1.1 on a Gentoo base dom0. Everything is working great. I tried one of Joseph Glanville''s PV-HVM image (debian6) and its working as it should.
Now l''im trying to build a Gentoo based domU with then same specs as Joseph''s PV-HVM.
I used a copy of the .cfg and adapted to my needs to make the gentoo work.
when booting the minimal install image using
dovecot-auth: sockbuf.c:91: ber_sockbuf_ctrl: Assertion `( (sb)->sb_opts.lbo_valid == 0x3 )' failed.

Dovecot + Windows AD + Postfix + quota
Hello,
I'm almost sure that all topics and problems mentioned below were
separately posted to this list already. But after spending 4 days on
searching, I did'n find a compilation similar to my case. So maybe
some of you guys, are able to answer to help me solve this:
1. I'd like to use userdb and passdb of Dovetcot to work with Windows AD.
2. I have to use them both because I'd

Gentoo ebuild
Hi!
Since I switched from SuSE to Gentoo (before Novell era :-) I wrote a simple
ebuild script for building wxruby on Gentoo.
Few notes:
a) in order to work, wxruby-0.1.0.tgz should contain wxruby-0.1.0 folder since
it is a Gentoo policy and I hope it''s not a problem to change that for 0.2.0
b) I assumed that one needs Ruby >= 1.8.0 and wx >= 2.4.1. Is it OK?
