Benchmark software representing generous desktop usage.
Hi, I want to simulate my file system which I slightly modified from EXT3. I want to know how it works in the general user's desktop usage. Is there any benchmark software or workload data which represent the general user's desktop work? Any comments will be appreciated. Thank you in advance. -- Seongsu's personal blog - http://www.senux.com/ "If you want to travel

Rails Tagging Generator?
Hey all! Just finished my first Rails app on 1.0 day and even got paid for it! Great stuff and much thanks to the many generous souls in IRC, especially ezmobious, who helped me through. For my second Rails app, I want to use tagging. I am wondering if there is a Tagging Generator or some other existing implementation I can borrow from? Best, Mike Pence Boca Raton, FL

sievec fails when last line is a comment without trailing \n
...re end of hash comment. Looking a bit closer I found that the last line, which was a comment, did not have a trailing newline. Adding a newline fixed the problem. I do not know if Dovecot 1.2's managesieve behaves differently, but the upgrade from cmusieve to sieve In the spirit of "be generous in what you accept but strict in what you send", is it possible for sievec to not throw an error in this case, but simply compile the file. This might help other updates from cmusieve -> sieve as well. Thanks in advance. Peter -- Peter Marschall peter at adpm.de

403 (Forbidden) with Apache on Mongrel Cluster
...ls application on my VPS to run on two mongrels. When I run curl on localhost, the starting page comes up fine. That is, mongrel is serving the app perfectly. The problem arises when trying to access the app on my ip through apache. I get a 403 error. Just to test things out, I''ve set generous permissions on the entire rails directory structure still to no avail. I''ve also set up a non-rails virtual host, and everything works fine there. So I doubt that it''s a vhost problem. What could be the problem here? Any insights would be awesome; to me, it''s been a re...

Intro to R: lecture presentation
Hi All: A couple of weeks back, I asked a question on the list that I was invited to provide an introductory lecture on R to a group of academicians in Kolkata. I thank all of you who had generously guided me in providing me web links and words to the wise. Time to give back. I did the presentation on introduction to R and uploaded the presentation files at the following site: http://www.aloofhosting.com/arinbasu/Rtutorial/Rintroweb_files/frame.htm A shortened form of url is here (easy f...

Maximum Number of Calls Asterisk Can Handle
...nterfaces In my situation, I have no plans to run anything other than G.711/SIP, so my transcoding need is probably only limited to the playback of pre-recorded messages as well as any processing involved in leaving voicemail. in theory, a gigabit interface can move 1048576Kbit/sec - now if i generously allocate 96Kbit/sec for every G.711 call, the network transport can handle, again in theory, 10922 simultaneous calls. would it be wrong to expect performance near this mark for the asterisk software? SUCCESS report: samba3 as single-sign-on provider in heterogeneous network
Hi all, to raise the bug vs success ratio i'd like to express my gratitude to all samba members and those who, though not in-core developers, generously supported noobs like me on this mail list. I've set up an environment two months ago and it has run without glitches or tweaks since then. Now as misusing my family as beta testers has worked out so nicely i will deploy an identical setup in the institute i'm working for. Samba and...

PPM to BMP converter
Dear all, Several days ago, I posted How to write a bmp file pixel by pixel. Instead of bmp, I succeeded in writing a PPM file by using the pixmap package. Thanks for the hint generously provided by Uwe Ligges. Now I have a new question. How to convert a PPM file to BMP file in R? I know I can do this in photoshop or by some other softwares, but I think if I Can do this in R, that would be great! Would anyone please give me any hints? just hints, I will dig it out! Thank...
