[LLVMdev] Perf is dead again... :(
...ll be straight forward > FWIW, if you can use google's cloud offerings, I can likely fund it. This isn't about only being willing to fund our platform vs. some other platform, or which platform is better. It's just that we're already well set up to handle this when its on top of GCE and related services -- this is how we are currently running the phabricator instance and we're working on setting up bots here as well. But I have no idea if GCE and related bits are even useful for what LNT needs. Just let me know if they are, and I'll try to get things rolling. --------...

[fdo] Postmortem: July 17th GitLab outage
...bernetes engine did _not_ in fact provide support for resizing disks, as it was an alpha feature which was not possible to enable. At this point I made sure the old persistent volumes would, in fact, persist after they had been orphaned. This gave us three copies of the data: in a local backup, in GCE disk snapshots, and in retention of the GCE disks themselves. I then spent some time figuring out how to pause service availability, so we could make the new disks available to be used by the cluster, without actually starting the services with a clean slate. This took a surprising amount of time,...

Can't delete or move /home on 7.3 install
Tried this in both AWS and GCE as I though it may be a specific cloud vendor issue. SELinux is disabled, lsof | grep home shows nothing, lsattr /home shows nothing. Simply get "Device or resource busy." Works just find on 7.2 so I'm kinda at a loss. Scanned over the RHEL release notes and didn't see anything....

Enabling Halo sets volume RO
Hi all, I'm taking a stab at deploying a storage cluster to explore the Halo AFR feature and running into some trouble. In GCE, I have 4 instances, each with one 10gb brick. 2 instances are in the US and the other 2 are in Asia (with the hope that it will drive up latency sufficiently). The bricks make up a Replica-4 volume. Before I enable halo, I can mount to volume and r/w files. The issue is when I set the `cluster.h...

[LLVMdev] Perf is dead again... :(
The cloud instance would need funding to run at the scale the llvm.org <http://llvm.org/> server runs at. It can only accommodate about 5k submissions worth of data at its current size. I assume that would be exhausted pretty fast with a bunch of machines submitting several times per day. > On Dec 1, 2014, at 9:49 AM, Tobias Grosser <tobias at grosser.es> wrote: > > On

I've not specifically tried it with GCE, but a good starting point might be this Perl script: https://rwmj.wordpress.com/2013/04/04/new-in-libguestfs-use-syslinux-or-extlinux-to-make-bootable-guests/ I skimmed the GCE requirements, and you'll probably need to modify that script a little bit, particularly to make the size be an ex...

How to make a Google Compute Engine boot image with guestfish?
wow - guestfish has a dizzying array of options and functionality - looks awesome. I feel a bit like I’m asking for homework help, but perhaps someone might be willing to save me a weekend (or more) of trial and error by pointing me in the right direction….. I’ve done so much fiddling with this sort of stuff that I know a little insider guidance can be a *huge* help and time saver. And if it is

Can't delete or move /home on 7.3 install
This is a base install. If you deploy an instance in ec2 or GCE (ec2 you can do the free tier) it's easily repeatable. Even on a RHEL 7.3 instance. Note you'll need to allow root and password logins via SSH before attempting. Problem Samba 3.0 with net groupmap access LDAP 2.1.23
...on patience. Another question.. To add a computer to a domain, realize that to store the admin password for Samba to use for this I need to run smppasswd -w xxxx. There are different options in slapd.conf for encrypting the root user password. What do I use? Nothing, {SSHA} {CRYPT} ..I may have a GCE (gross conceptual error) about how this password is accessed. Help! -- Kent L. Nasveschuk <kent@wareham.k12.ma.us>
