samba 2.4.6 to 2.4.7 update on Fedora update 26 to 27, can't connect to shares
...t does
something similar to idmap_nis.sh
https://searchcode.com/codesearch/view/29414590/
But, instead of using ypmatch (as in idmap_nis.sh) I would use "getent
passwd" calls instead to map between uid/gid and the SID number from wbinfo.
Thanks for listening and helping :-)

samba 2.4.6 to 2.4.7 update on Fedora update 26 to 27, can't connect to shares
I've just updated my samba 2.4.6 to samba 2.4.7 via updating Fedora 26 to 27
System was working in F26. But in F27 users cannot connect to the service
definitions:
$ smbclient //turing/ngaywood
Enter UNE\ngaywood's password:
Anonymous login successful
tree connect failed: NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED
The server system is configured as (testparm output):
[global]
auth methods = guest sam_ignoredomain winbind:ntdomain
log file = /var/log/samba/log.%m
max log size = 5...

samba 2.4.6 to 2.4.7 update on Fedora update 26 to 27, can't connect to shares
...o 4.7
My fault for not testing enough. But samba is an add on feature of the
system and I overlooked it. Roll back is not possible.
Installing an older samba I guess could be possible but it means stepping
outside package management.

samba 2.4.6 to 2.4.7 update on Fedora update 26 to 27, can't connect to shares
...P
That is:
Samba will authenticate against AD, and then utilize the normal 'getent'
system calls to gather the uid/gid numbers, and those will come from
OpenLDAP, and/or the local system files as configured within the
nsswitch.conf file.
Is this type of setup still possible?

Windows XP Home accessing a Samba PDC
A friend of mine has asked me a question in my role as "biggest local
geek" (for very small values of "local"). Googling hasn't turned up an
answer, so does anyone here know if this is possible?
At his business, they had a mixture of XP Home, XP Pro and Win98
machines accessing a Samba server with security=user. The server has
one big everyone-read-write drive and a few

Has anyone been able to start a Fedora 16 VM in Xen PV?
All,
I've had a heck of a time getting Fedora 16 to run as a guest VM under
CentOS 5.7 host as a paravirtualized Xen guest. I believe the issue has
something to do with Fedora 16 using grub2...
When I attempt to start the VM (via xm create), I get this error:
Using config file "/etc/xen/fedora-workstation".
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "/usr/bin/pygrub",

adding user ldif to ldap
hi list.. I am trying to add an ldif with my users that I have derived
from /etc/passwd. for some reason ldapadd is choking on the first
entry... I've also tried removing the first one and predictably each
one fails in exactly the same way...may I ask how best to correct
this?
Here is the error:
LDAP# ldapadd -x -D "cn=Manager,dc=summitnjhome,dc=com" -W -f /tmp/passwd.ldif
