Gatway with IAX ?
If I want to use IAX instead of SIP, do I need to get gateway that support IAX. Are there such gateways? I plan to connect 3 to 4 standard phones via gateway with * In addition I don't want to use SIP to setup VoIP. IAX is more suitable for communication over firewall. -- #Joseph

VPN between two servers
...on each of the servers, probably with a 192.168.x.x address so that I could have some daemon on server A listen to say 192.168.1.1 only and have server B connect to that daemon through the tinc VPN from 192.168.1.2 for example. I think all the samples work from the assumption that the servers are gatways that have networks behind them. I have setup my boxes according to the samples, but I cannot ping between the virtual interfaces. Any hints would be welcome. I am not sure, but would this be bridging that I am looking for? I don't actually think so. Regards, Torsten

RTP routing..
...SL line (512/256Kbps) to connect from the internet to my Asterisk server.. At a point I will run out of bandwidth so the cheapest option would be to add a second ADSL line.. The problem is how will the routing work? If I put 2 IP's on one NIC will the return traffice be routed back via the gatway of the IP that is was recieved on or will it try and route all outbound traffic via the primary IP's gateway?? Would it be better to add 2 NICs instead of 2 IP's on one NIC?? although I don't see that this would change the routing logic.. Has anyone played with this type of setup?...

getent not working after installing firewall
...a follow-up. But, since you've noticed ... To clarify: Without the Sonicwall, host 192.168.0.2 (DC) had the ISP's gateway 98.102.63.105 configured. All the LAN workstations had 192.168.0.2 (DC) set as the gateway (route command output). The dhcpcd client sets the IP, mask, nameserver and gatway so *it* set the DC as the gateway, not me directly. Regardless, this had worked for years. When I configured the Sonicwall (IP 192.168.0.1), it got configured with the ISP gateway. I configured the DC (192.168.0.2) gateway with the Sonicwall's IP: 192.168.0.1. Since the DC is still the DHC...

how do I install mailman in a mail cluster
I am trying to figure out the best way to install Mailman, or any other mailing list software in a mail cluster, i.e. two postfix smtp gatways, two squirrelmail webmail servers, failover cyrus imap servers.. I initially installed it on the same machine as the imap server since this is where the mail ends up and only is delivered through one machine. I have other just technical kludges, like propogating the mailman aliases to the smt...

Losing first DTMF digit (with ASR)
I'm having a wierd problem. Somewhere around 1-2% of the time, the first DTMF digit dialed gets dropped. This is occurring during a SpeechBackground application call. If the caller reenters the digits when given a second chance, all is OK. Any suggestions how to debug this intermittent problem?

RE: samba problem
Hi Alexander, The kind of firewall i have uses the basic iptables which came with the installation CDs of linux-SuSE. I installed SuSE 8.1 which has a firewall that has to be activated. But now, u know, i can't find the file containing the iptables so as to adjust the rules. When i try "iptables -L" in console mode i can see all the rules. I think i need to add some new rules

IPv6 routed setup
...work should not be run in switched mode. Our site uses 2001:470:780f::/56 - Each ap gets a single /64 network, to be distributed to its wireless clients. Example: ap 1: 2001:470:780f:1::/64 ap 2: 2001:470:780f:2::/64 etc. One tinc-node ist providing internet-access and should be used as default gatway for all services (route ::/0). Furthermore a private IPv4 network ist deployed in advance - each node gets a private IPv4-range as well ap 1: 10.0.1.0/24 ap 2: 10.0.2.0/24 Again, one node is used as a default gateway (route 0.0.0.0/0) However, I'm still uncertain on my host configurations - I...

xen hotplug scripts not working
Hello Everyone, I have set up a xen server with 10 physical network devices using the bridge mode of XEN. This is because I want to split and separate the network traffic for security reasons. Maybe the best way is to use pci back hide. But I want to understand what is going on here. For all testings I have only activated eth[0-3]. My first tests were successful. I have created a VM using
