hivexml - Flattened vs. Expanded XML
...may seem verbose, it makes processing the data significantly easier.
Is working with the hivexml system in a production environment? If so, do you have any thoughts on this matter?
You can find an example of the digital forensics XML at:

hivexml rewrite
...m.
My question for this group:
1. Is anybody using hivexml?
2. Is it important to be able to read the old XML format?
3. We have had a hard time building hivexml on non-RedHat systems. Is there any objection to my making this a standalone program?
I look forward to hearing from the list.

CentOS 8 - Fail to mount ${HOME}
...achine.
- I have already disables this "nice" feature by running:
[root at lab_cnt08 ~]# *authconfig
--disablemkhomedir --update*
- Both CentOS 7 and CentOS 8 machines reside in the same domain.
Any thoughts or ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks,

[PATCH 1/1] hivexml: Base64-encode non-printable data
Some of the data in names and string values were being unsafely printed,
causing some types of XML processors to fail (e.g. Python's Expat).
This patch checks for printability of each character and outputs base64
with an encoding attribute for unsafe data.

Antivirus for CentOS? (yuck!)
Hi All,
Yes, I know, it's really really embarrassing to have to ask but I'm
being pushed to the wall with PCI DSS Compliance procedure
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PCI_DSS) and have to either justify why
we don't need to install an anti-virus or find an anti-virus to run on
our CentOS 5 servers.
Whatever I do - it needs to be convincing enough to make the PCI
compliance guy tick the
