Ghost Create account: procedure number out of range in Samba
Hello, I would like to clone a Windows XP workstation that's part of a Samba domain using Norton Ghost. In Ghost you need to create an account in the domain to be able to add your domain to the list of supported domains by the Norton Ghost console. When I try to add such an account, I get this error message: Unable to add DOMAIN to the list of supported domains, The procedure number is

Rejoining an XP workstation to a domain
...ng more than one user name, are not allowed. Disconnect all previous connections to the server or shared resource and try again..." I had gone as far as disabling the network interface, then reenabling it, and rejoining - it still gives the same error. Any thoughts at this point? Thanks, Dan Gapinski

Replacing WinNT 4 PDC with Samba PDC
Hi All! Thanks to all of you that responded to my previous posts. I've gotten a lot more info now than I used to have! But I still have questions. The biggest right now is: Is there a way build up a Samba PDC as a direct replacement for an existing Windows NT 4.0 PDC? All the material I've found to date is written from a standpoint of creating a new domain as you create the Samba

I should mention that the 2 computers that had this problem are on a subnet (192.168.1.0). I am sending my smb.conf as a post script. Thanks for your help!!! Migrating Profiles: Revisited
Hello everyone. Well, i've tried to figure this out on my own by asking questions and reading the how-to provided by John. I've followed the directions accordingly, but there are a few catches i've noticed that seem to be throwing me a curve or to. Let me recap. Basically, i've setup our samba PDC with LDAP. I originally was going to use roaming profiles, but decided against

mini-ITX suggestions
Does anyone have recommendations for (or against) mini-ITX platforms to be used with Wildcard X100P and TDM400P cards? I am considering the use of systems using VIA EPIA CL and Epia M as small, quiet platforms on which to host Asterisk.

deprecated entries?
Hello, I just upgraded to Samba 3.0.7 from 2.2.7a, and think I have most of the bugs worked out now. But I have to wonder if some of my smb.conf entries have deprecated or morphed into other newer entries. Would anybody care to point me to where I could evaluate that myself? Thanks, Dan

Slow update time for Desktop icons
I've got one user that I just put onto the new Samba 3.0.8 server. He's on WinXP SP1. He has a ton of icons and things on his desktop (39M worth of data according to his profile) but I'm not sure if that is a problem. When he logs in, a few of his icons which point to network applications have only the default Windows shortcut image. If he right-clicks the Desktop and clicks

Set a login script but no profile?
Hello, I am so close!!! So far I have a Samba PDC that machines and users can log into, but here's the deal: I would like to find out how to allow them to log on and receive their login script, but not use a roving profile. Here are my relevant settings as they are set right now: ; logon drive = x: ; logon home = "\\Gluon\Gluon G" ; logon path = \\Jupiter\Profile\%U encrypt

Can join domain; can't logon
I had a problem similar to my current one a week or so ago, and I was encouraged to upgrade from Samba 2.2.9 to 3.0.7, which I did. Now that I've completed that nightmare, the problem I initially set out to fix is still there, just different. Namely: I am trying to set up Samba 3.0.7 on a SuSE 9.1 box as an LDAP PDC whose only job will be authentication. Our LDAP server is on a separate
