rsync --compare-dest creates all dirs and symlinks
Hi all, Being a rsync newbie, I wanted to use rsync for frequent backups that should only contain the changes. First I made copy of the important partition of the remote PC ("gany") using dd and mounted the resulting local file using a loop device under /mnt/gany. Then I tried: rsync -Haziv --compare-dest=/mnt/gany/lib --compare-dest=/data/A/gany.1 \ root@gany:/lib/ /data/A/gany.1

I can read/write in virtio BLK Device, but I can't run a hello world program in it
Hi Linux Virtualization Mailing List Members, I am trying to develop a driver for virtio blk device in guest. I can safely mount the virtual blk device with: mount /dev/vda /mnt/ in /mnt/ I can read & write the device. But when I run a simple hello world program in /mnt/root/, this error happens: root at linux_guest:/mnt/root# ./helloworld_static [ 23.003459] CPU: 0 PID: 491 Comm:

Setting up VHost without QEMU?
...done in kernel? Is it because the guest VMs are running in QEMU? I and my team are developing our own hypervisor. And our guest VMs are not running in QEMU. Is there any implementation out there which implement Vhost without needing QEMU at all? Thank you for your time. Have a nice day/evening! mixing WD20EFRX and WD2002FYPS in one pool
Hi, after a flaky 8-drive Linux RAID10 just shredded about 2 TByte worth of my data at home (conveniently just before I could make a backup) I''ve decided to both go full redundancy as well as all zfs at home. A couple questions: is there a way to make WD20EFRX (2 TByte, 4k sectors) and WD200FYPS (4k internally, reported as 512 Bytes?) work well together on a current OpenIndiana? Which

Icecast2, ezstream and reverse proxy
Hello Ezstream is working well locally with Icecast2 on port 8000 on a Debian Wheezy platform. However, I use a reverse proxy (Pound) to pass all requests from the Internet for x.mysite.com to backend localhost:8000 i.e. my Icecast2 server. This works fine, i.e. x.mysite.com brings up the Icecast2 Status page. My problem is with the ezstream xml configuration
setting which
