FXO recommendation
Hi all,
With the gamut of FXO cards out there, I'm looking for a recommendation for
home use. I have a nicely working Asterisk 1.4 system that just requires an
FXO card to connect my NTL PSTN to it. My previous X101P clone seems to have
kicked the bucket.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

hcl()
Hello everyone
I am struggling with hcl().
It says on the manpage that "240 yields blue".
With this:
plot(1:50,pch=16,col=hcl(h=240, c=50, l=1:50))
I get mostly blue, but also some red, dots. Note that h=240
throughout. If 240 is blue,
how come there's a red dot there? Or is it just my monitor?
Can some colour expert help me on this?

color management spec
As part of my GSoC project I have to work out a spec that covers how
applications should communicate color management related properties
between each other and the compositing manager. The main idea of the
project is to let the compositing manager do the color management on
behalf of the applications. But before that can happen, the applications
have to tell the compositing manager how they want

PHP Markdown 1.0.2b7
...ge* emphasis</strong>
It should be noted however that fixing this introduced other nesting
problems -- like being able to put a [link [inside](#) a link](#).
These problems will be addressed in a future release.
Original improvements in PHP Markdown 1.0.2b7:
* Changed span and block gamut methods so that they loop over a
customizable list of methods. This makes subclassing the parser
a more
interesting option for creating syntax extensions.
* Also added a "document" gamut loop which can be used to hook
document-level
methods (like for striping link de...

[R] color palette from red to blue passing white (shifted from R-help)
Hi,
The move to sRGB is nice, is there any interest in adding an interface
to lcms, http://www.littlecms.com,
to allow gamut matching? I can think of a lot of instances where I would
like to render a
figure as it would appear on my printer. This is probably best done as a
separate package though,
at least at first.

PHP Markdown Extra fork for MathJax
My fork of Michel Fortin's PHP Markdown Extra has been updated to
include support for MathJax as well as jsMath. Both of these are
JavaScript libraries for using LaTeX syntax, e.g., \(E = mc^2\), to
include high quality, scalable equations (not just bitmapped images of
equations) in your HTML pages.

Fail2ban problem
If there is a serious power failure, eg during an electric storm,
and the internet goes down
then my CentOS-6.2 server seems to take an inordinate time, maybe forever,
to get past fail2ban.
It is as though there is an extremely long - maybe an hour - timeout
if fail2ban cannot connect to the internet.
(I usually stop the machine with the power-button,
re-boot into a different OS (Fedora) and

Encoding errors in Rd files
Well, I'm working on project trying to bring back an old package last
published on R 1.9 back to life.
I'm almost there but I am getting killed by an encoding error in the Rd
files
After reading the manual, I decided to try UTF-8. Mostly because I could
spell it. ha.
That got me a bit closer but I still have these warnings

book on regular expressions
Hello,
Could someone recommend a good book on regular expressions with focus on
applications/use as it might relate to R. I remember there was a mention of
such a reference book recently, but I could not locate that message on the
archive.
Thanks.

getting rid of hp c3180
...9;s no need for linux drivers for scanning.
I have a seperate Canon Pro100 large format color photo printer, this is
an ink jet, uses 8 seperate color cartridges. on glossy photo paper, it
makes photos that look like they came from a pro photo lab with very
good subtle color rendering and wide gamut range. fairly expensive per
page. Unclear if there's linux support for these (my color
printing all comes from Windows).

getting rid of hp c3180
I have a hp photosmart C3180 all-in-one and am well and truly sick of it.
It seems like every time I go on another printing binge,
I need yet another print cartridge.
hp-clean doesn't help.
IIRC this use it or lose it "feature" is common to inkjets.
What should I replace it with?
If I want a non-cloggging printer,
is laser jet the way I need to go?
I'd like to do color

ogg pic format (again).. here's why
I sent a little mail some time ago asking if there was going to be an ogg
pic-format, and you replied that PNG, MNG and JNG is good enough (sorry for
this late answer btw).. But, consider this: The ogg video-format (tarkin ?
where do you get these names from anyway ? :) ) needs a way to compress its
frames. Are you going to use MNG for that ? :) ..
If you had an ogg pic format, that format could

Samba as AD travails
...I have read everything I can find on the internet to no avail to get past
my issues. I have to say, I'm very disappointed in the general quality and
fragmentation of information on this topic. Samba isn't a turn-key
solution as an AD by any stretch of the imagination. I've run the gamut so
far with issues that internet digging has (mostly) resolved.
I had this essentially all working with the internal DNS....until that
corrupted with strange error messages about undotted things that
essentially broke it.
And so, on to bind. I've got plenty of experience with that, should be...
