...same string as a mapping for the user's home drive works fine. In other words the directory //DC/PROFILES/%USERNAME% is created when used as the mapping argument. However, the existence of this directory does not cure anything. If following creation of the profile directory using the mapping gambit one changes the profile to use that directory then when one logs on as \\DC\%USERNAME% the profile cannot be found or created on the DC for that user. If I rename the existing profile directory to PROFILES/%USERNAME%.V2 then I do not get the temporary profile error notice when logging in so the pr...

openssh-2.1.1p2 problem and fix
Hi all, trawled through the archives and did'nt find what I was looking for so here goes. This may be common knowledge or may not for the developers here ... maybe it will save someone some time anyhow. I'm running Redhat 6.2, **2.4.0-test1 kernel**, openssh-2.1.1p2.tar.gz, openssl-0.9.5a.tar.gz, with these options. sh configure --with-tcp-wrappers --with-md5-passwords

Which GUI for ACD edition ?
Hello, I want to safely delegate ACD edition to a system administrator who has no knowledge of Linux nor Asterisk. More precisely, I want him to be able to edit and change menus such as : "Type 1 for management; 2 for support; 3 for sales department". I could teach this administrator what Asterisk config files are but I'm wondering if any GUI exists for such task (editing a vocal

Help choose my project for Ruby Mendicant
Hi folks, So far, the Ruby Mendicant (rubymendicant.wikidot.com) fundraising campaign has been going great. == News About Donations == Over the last couple weeks, I''ve received contributions from 53 people, running the gambit from close friends to people I''ve never even spoke with before. With the help of RubyCentral''s donation matching, I''ve raised enough funds to work on open source Ruby as my primary responsibility for at least 12 weeks, which is a decent chunk of time! == The Projec...

Cyber Power USB UPS'.
...9;m evaluating two replacements for UPS upgrades to my dept. Because the CyberPower OP650 has been retired, we are evaluating the CyberPower600VA and the CyperPower 1000AVRLCD. We will be evaluating others. Initial configuration and communications are established via the usbhid-ups driver, the gambit of tests are all passed with the exception of one. I seem to be failing the power race test. As I understand it the power race test happens when mains is lost, a system and ups shutdown are commanded (I simulate this via the upsmon -c fsd command), but the mains come back online before the UPS cycl...

llvm and clang are getting slower
I have noticed that LLVM doesn't seem to "like" large functions, as a general rule. Admittedly, my experience is similar with gcc, so I'm not sure it's something that can be easily fixed. And I'm probably sounding like a broken record, because I have said this before. My experience is that the time it takes to compile something is growing above linear with size of

They want people to believe their various contractual disputes with IBM, Autozone, Chrysler, etc... are about Linux IP, when they have _no_ ground to stand on. So far, the gambit has worked, largely thanx to the rabid Linux populous who knows nothing about Monetery, and the fact that even the most pro-Linux company is _not_ IBM's friend if you threatened their Power/AIX platforms. Just ask IBM customers who can't buy Linux/x86-64 systems from IBM because IBM tries...

Several logon script bat files?
I simply wonder if I can have several different logon script bat files for MS Win users that validates through my Samba PDC? Let's say that group "users" should have logon batch users.bat and the members of the group "sales" should have both users.bat and sales.bat executed at logon? Or can I in some way use ONE script with parameters that knows about what groups the user

Re: Ogg format and latency
Hi Aaron, thanks for your thoughts on improving the Ogg encapsulation format. As Monty was the person who developed the specification, I am forwarding your suggestions to him. Maybe some of these changes can be adopted into a future version of the Ogg encapsulation format. Best Regards, Silvia. Types of apps to use Rails for?
I am a web developer using PHP and very limited JavaScript. I keep hearing about RoR and am interested in learning it, but before I make the jump I''d like to hear about the types of applications I should be using it for. On all the tutorials you see big apps like stores, social networking, shopping carts, etc. I don''t have any immediate plans to be building something that
