Is it possible to have 2 WIN servers on the same network?
...ill be able to login to the NT
machine
on the existing network? Can a PC login to a NT on one workgroup, but use
a WIN server with another workgroup name?
Side question. If one of the machines wants to use a share controlled by the
main network WIN server, is that possible.
Any Ideas? TIA

Looking for MSDOS driver to map to samba
...hey have Intel Express cards . How do I setup the MSDOS computer
to map a drive to SAMBA. One question is these computers do not have IP
addresses, how would I assign an IP address, the W95 use DHCP.
Anyone know where I can get a mapping program to map to Samba from
an MSDOS machine?
Thanx

Summary: SAMBA requesting to be a master browser....
...ser.
I have since added: os level = 0 (which should have been the default)
and domain master = no (which also should have been the default)
It was suggested as well to use local master = no (however my version of
SAMBA didn't recognize this parameter).
Thank you to all who responded.

We are running samba 1.9.16p11, and seem to be doing
just fine.
Last Month, our IT dept informed us that our machine
was attempting to be a master browser, which the NT
Wins server was not happy about. Below is my global

Filenames with a "*" in unix.
...ot;*" in their names, which really messes up W95 when I attempt to display
the contents of those shares.
Is SAMBA not passing the filenames correctly or W95 is just not reading
them correctly?
Any ideas? on either side. (except changing the filenames to not have
"*"'s).

SWAT
I was playing with this on my test machine, (redhat 5.2, samba 2.0.3)
worked great, and I was really impressed.
So I decided to install this on my office machine. (redhat 4.2, samba
2.0.3) and the only significant difference is that on the
office machine, I use encrypted passwords.
I cannot get swat to authenticate on the second machine. That is, no

Samba, ACLs and an ADS domain.
G'day all,
One thing to note before I begin, if you think this e-mail should be targeted at the linux-cifs folks (or anywhere else for that matter) and not the samba general mailing list, please feel free to tell me.
I've been running our fileserver for a while without ACLs and off the ADS domain so that my boss, a few employees and I could access backups and share project files. After a
