:How to insert a column in a data frame
Hi dear list,
I wonder if somebody can help me with this. I have a text file with
300 rows and around 300000 columns and I need to insert a column that
has the number 1 in every row. This new column should be placed
between columns 6 and 7.
As an example: I would want to insert a column (consiting just of the
number 1 in every row, as in column 6) between columns 6 and 7.

[PATCH 0/4] Small refactorings of the protocol layer.
As the start of work to add remote support, I'm taking a close look at
the protocol layer in the library. These are some small cleanups.

Programming Problem (for loop, random # control, 3 dimentional graph)
Dear List,
This is just a programming problem which i cannot seem
to figure out. I am trying to get a set of power from
a test (say, kolmogorov smirnov) out of a distribution
(say, G-K distribution) as follows. I am trying to
reduce to pain of writing the whole set of data points
(p# below) using "for" loop. However, I...

resampling from string when it runs across multiple lines
Hi,
I need to resample from a long string, which is written in many lines with
carriage-return marks at the end of each line. Perhaps because the data

columns of characters from the data because it is resampling whole columns.

I have the following two problems, related to the function sub, grep,

The header of the file(s) I have to import is like this.

[PATCH 2/5] threads: Acquire and release the lock around each public guestfs_* API.
Since each ACQUIRE_LOCK/RELEASE_LOCK call must balance, this code is
difficult to debug. Enable DEBUG_LOCK to add some prints which can
help.
The only definitive list of public APIs is found indirectly in the
generator (in generator/c.ml : globals).

[PATCH 0/5] Add support for thread-safe handle.
This patch isn't ready to go upstream. In fact, I think we might do a
quick 1.30 release soon, and save this patch, and also the extensive
changes proposed for the test suite[1], to after 1.30.
Currently it is not safe to use the same handle from multiple threads,
unless you implement your own mutexes. See:

[PATCH 0/2] Change guestfs__*
libguestfs has used double and triple underscores in identifiers.
These aren't valid for global names in C++.
These large but completely mechanical patches change the illegal
identifiers to legal ones.

[PATCH] OCaml tools: use open_guestfs everywhere
Instead of creating Guestfs handles and manually apply common options
(e.g. debug and trace), use the open_guestfs in Common_utils.
This also applies the common options to handles which didn't set them
before, so we can inspect also their messages if needed.

merge some columns
Dear all,
I would like to know how to merge columns like:
Input file:
V1 V2 V3 V4 V5 V6
1 G A G G G G
2 A A G A A G
Desired output file:
V1 V2 V3
1 G/A G/G G/G
2 A/A G/A A/G
So for every 2 consecutive columns merge their content into one.
Thanks in advance.

[PATCH 3/5] threads: Use thread-local storage for errors.
We permit the following constructs in libguestfs code:
if (guestfs_some_call (g) == -1) {

}
and:
guestfs_push_error_handler (g, NULL, NULL);
