RE: Asterisk-Users digest, Vol 1 #1033 - 7 msgs
Same thing. It will make sense to try
Register => <FWDnum>@fwd.pulver.com:<FWDpass>@fwdnat.pulver.com:5082
but in that case Asterisk sends
REGISTER sip:fwdnat.pulver.com SIP/2.0
which is not right. It should be sip:fwd.pulver.com but sent thru
fwdnat.pulver.com:5082

Using Asterisk with FWD through NAT
...ter => <FWDnum>@fwd.pulver.com:<FWDpass>@fwd.pulver.com
but since Asterisk still use internal IP in some SIP fields I got "479 We
don't accept private IP contacts. Please set your external IP" message.
In second scenario I hack hosts file that fwd.pulver.com points to
fwdnat.pulver.com. In that case I was able to register but call can't be
initiated since
Asterisk put wrong (proxy) port in To: field of SIP message.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance

FWD and registrations
Someone said something about FWD registrations requiring the extended
syntax shortly, like this:
register => 12345@fwd.pulver.com:somepassword@fwd.pulver.com/12345
At the moment, using the extended syntax doesn't work - I get
authorization errors. So stick with the old syntax:
register => 12345:somepassword@fwd.pulver.com/12345

register with outbound proxy from behind nat for freeworlddialup etc.
...ith freeworld to place and
recive calls. My setup works fine if my * box dials into the internet
directly but from behind the nat if I dial out the other person can't
hear me, and I can't be called at all. I've tried for hours with tons of
combinations, registering to fwd.pulver.com and fwdnat.pulver.com (same
as 192.246.69.247) but no luck.
I'll atach my sip.conf and extentions.conf and the way to configure the
xten (www.xten.com) free sip client at the end.
Thank you very much for any help or feedback!

Oliver

Using IAXTEL with RSA authentication. MD5 works, RSA not. [2]
...ve none)
It's really not critical since md5 seems secure enough here, but I
thought I'd ask in case anyone else has run into this. (I'd like to
eventually set up my own RSA IAX2 trunks.)
By the way, iaxtel and FWD is a great combo! I have single phones out
on the internet using the fwdnat service and FWD server, since that's
the only thing that works behind some firewalls. Those phones can
dial in to my own Asterisk (also behind NAT) via my 1-700 iaxtel
number. This seems to be the best workaround for too-much-NAT.
Thanks,

Working with FWD, IPTel, SIPPhone?
...t the additional sections in sip.conf are for?

host=fwd.pulver.com
fromuser=48702
fromdomain=fwd.pulver.com
;secret=password
;username=XXXXX
Do you need these sections if you're not NATting? How would I define
fwdnat.pulver.com:5082 above? (asterisk appears to treat the whole
string as a hostname).
At some point, I'd like to have branch offices off of IPSEC tunnelled
connections - running an Asterisk instance on every customer's firewall
isn't as appealing as a simple SIP proxy.

Free World Dialup behind NAT
Hi,
after reading about it on the list I decided to set up a Free World
Dialup account. For those of you who don't know, that is a sip proxy
where you and your friends can singn up free and then you can just
connect to it with any sip client and call anybody that is registered
for free. Pretty much like iaxtel (I belive that was the name of it) for
the iax protocol. It even supports clients
