Compiling R-2.9.1 on Mac OS X 10.4
...follow the
instructions from CRAN site to every detail.
The Mac OS did not have a gcc (gcc -version did not work). So I did the
following:
## For gcc 4.2 and Fortran 4.2.4 Compilers
Download gcc-4.2-5566-darwin8-all.tar.gz from
http://r.research.att.com/tools/#gcc42
unpacked using: sudo tar fvxz gcc-4.2-5566-darwin8-all.tar.gz -C /
Made gcc-4.2 default: sudo link gcc-4.2 gcc
Made g++-4.2 default: sudo link g++-4.2 g++
I downloaded the source and tried compiling using:
./configure --with-blas='-framework vecLib' --with-lapack --with-ICU \
--with-aqua --enable-R-frame...

64-bit R-build on Mac OS X 10.4 - make check failures
...ple and compile it:

> sudo tar fvxz - -C /usr/lib
Many thanks to Simon Urbanek for providing a 64-bit libiconv for
use on the Apple Mac OS X platform. This allowed compilation
on the Mac without having to use the '--without-iconv' switch
(for those of us who are not yet proficient at compiling 64-bit
libraries on the Mac)....

64-bit OSX binary for 2.9.2
dear R wizards: I am looking for a binary package distribution of R 2.9.2
for OSX . Looking at http://r.research.att.com/ , there seems to be only a
binary for 2.9.0 . is the 2.9.2 version binary package available
somewhere? (at this point, would it make sense to elevate the 64-bit
version to a "standard recommended" rather than just a "boutique" version?)
sincerely, /iaw

Failed installation on Mac OSX 10.3 (PR#5697)
I've installed R 1.8.1 on OSX 10.3 (Panther) using the RAqua.pkg and
all indications were that the installation was successful. However,
after double clicking the R icon in the Applications folder, nothing
appears to happen. The following message appears on the console:
Mac OS X Version 10.3 (Build 7B85)
