IBM 4039 Laserprinter. Weird problem.
...will not print anything. All the jpbs will be spooled. For each print job to be printed. I will need to switch off the printer and switch it on again. Have anyone encountered such problems before? I know there is basically nothing wrong (to my knowledge) with the setup since the LX-800 is working. Furthemore I have another similar setup using an Epson Stylus Pro and its working fine. Anybody have any idea? Anything you could think of is good, cos' I'm really baffled. TIA

prcomp compared to SPAD
...french editor CISIA) : Ex: sd pv cp comp1 | 2.4802 | 62.01 | 62.01 | comp2 | 0.9898 | 24.74 | 86.75 | comp3 | 0.3566 | 8.91 | 95.66 | comp4 | 0.1734 | 4.34 | 100.00 | Am I wrong using R ? Why the results are so different ? Furthemore could anyone explain me the difference between prcomp and princomp, since we do not obtain exxactly the same results using these two functions. And how to obtain the coordinates of the points on the first composante using R ? Many thanks, Christine -.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-...

Printer upload problem
...e, without success. It is still the same: various alert boxes appears, some with very strange numbers (ie: 040:000:0466). In samba logs, I can see several STATUS_BUFFER_OVERFLOW messages. I've tried with samba version 3.0.22 and 3.0.27, on RHEL 5.1 installed on x64 architecture. Furthemore, we experiment printer wizard crashes with various printer drivers, and for most of them (we have almost 300 printers!), we found a combination PRINTER MODEL <-> PRINTER DRIVER which finally works, but it's not the panacee because the drivers don't really correspond to the pr...

libvirt-qemu/kvm passthru w/Intel 82598EB
...ely high rtt w/ping tests (20-30ms avg). I've tried a few tweaks I've discovered via googling, but nothing seems to help. (run libvirt as root, set privilege mode, etc) For validation, I have the same card in Dell hosts running Centos 6 natively and they get an avg rtt of .06ms or better. Furthemore the Dell will contact the dom1 but the connection has rtt avg times of about 6ms. With the ethernet interface on the motherboard of the Apple Xserve, I will see rtt times of .06ms within the dom1's, so I think this points to a problem with the Intel card passthru usage, perhaps interrupts han...

variable labels to accompany data.frame
...this kind of information automatically in a convenient form. For instance, in Stata one can define a "label" for a variable and it is thenceforth linked to the variable. In output from certain modeling and graphics functions, Stata by default uses the label rather than the variable name. Furthemore: In Stata, if "myvariable" is labeled numeric (in R lingo, a factor), and I type codebook myvariable then Stata tells me, among other things, the "levels" of myvariable. Does a tool of this sort exist in R? The prompt() function is related to this, but prompt(someDataFrame)...

R-beta: A new port of R to MS Windows on CRAN
...ectory. If you don't need the LaTeX files, remove them. Note: (1) Of course, you need a compiler. As I have said I used the egcs-mingw32 one: http://www.xraylith.wisc.edu/~khan/software/gnu-win32/ (2) You must also have a GNU make and some standard unix command (ls,cat, sed,rm). Furthemore, make and this command must be able to overcome the MsDOS limitation about the length of a command. I used the ones coming with the djgpp compiler. According to me, they are the best version for dos and windows. You can find it in any SIMTEL mirror. If you want, I can make...

multitable form
...the one of ''standard user''. The country has to be selected in a rolling list who contains all the countries from the table countries. So we can see a double interaction : We create a new adress and in the user table we reference an id to designate this newly created address Furthemore, in the address table there''s another interaction : The user has choosen a country from the countries table but it''s an id who is entered in the addresses table. So I would like to know if it''s possible to realise such complex forms and how... I''m also inter...

Duplexing
The recent thread titled: working ftp shaping, i think provided a script example where 100Mbps was specified as the rate for a typical NIC. If that NIC is connected to a switch, chances are that it runs at 100Mbps in each direction concurrently - duplexed Writing a rule that specifies a 100Mbps rate and thereby a 100Mbps ceil, limits the connection to half the available bandwidth. Failing to join an ADS domain
...h no luck. I've just upgraded to Samba 3.3.6 (using http://ftp.sernet.de/pub/samba/recent/rhel/5/x86_64/) but it still fails. The AD domain is "example.domain.org" and has its own DNS servers. My /etc/resolv.conf file redirects DNS queries to the AD DC DNS servers and it works OK. Furthemore, I would like to *not* use any WINS server and use raw SMB like Windows 2000+. [root@samba ~]# net -d 30 ads join -U admin@EXAMPLE.DOMAIN.ORG > /tmp/net_command.log 2>&1 Enter admin@EXAMPLE.DOMAIN.ORG's password: Segmentation fault [root@samba ~]# The output is in the attached...

include/exclude bug in rsync 2.6.0/2.6.1pre1
...ining this file and all of its subdirectories. This feature has advantages over --cvs-exclude for backing up large file systems since the .cvsignore files only apply to the current directory: unless the .cvsignore restrictions apply to the entire tree they must be duplicated in each subdirectory. Furthemore, the --cvs-exclude option is not intended for general system backups (for example, unless the default list is cleared with "!", it automatically excludes *.a and *.so libraries). diff -ru rsync-2.6.1pre-1/exclude.c rsync-2.6.1pre-1J/exclude.c --- rsync-2.6.1pre-1/exclude.c 2004-02-23 20...
