Rubygems Issues
I recently upgraded a server''s rubygems from 0.9.0 to 1.2.0. Upon
doing so, one of our apps that uses soap4r thinks all the security
certificates it sees are invalid (see Error 1 below). I tried
reverting to 0.9.0, but anything that uses rubygems crashes now (see
Error 2 below). If anyone could help me solve either problem, that
would be great. Ideally, I''d like to run the latest

counting columns that fulfill specific criteria
Hi,
I have a matrix (pwdiff in the example below) with ~480000 rows and 780
columns.
For each row, I want to get the percentage of columns that have an absolute
value above a certain threshold "t". I then want to allocate that percentage
to matrix 'perc' in the corresponding row. Below is my attempt at doing
this, but it does not work: I get 'replacement has length

What is equivalent to MS OUTLOOK ?
Hi All,
I am looking for an open source email client package that is equivalent to
MS OUTLOOK.
Clients are running Windows XP and Vista and Linux. So the package should be
able to run on both Windows And Linux.
Mail server is running Ms Exchange. So this client pkg should be able to
access Global Address book of the MS Exchange Server just as MS OUTLOOK.
What about evolution ?

Lightweight LMTP daemon to avoid overkill MTA
Hi,
My situation is as follows.
-An internet-facing spam filter relays email to destination mail server (Dovecot) with SMTP.
- Dovecot should take email and deliver it to user's mailboxes. I guess I'd need LMTP for this.
- An external SMTP relay is already in place. I am thinking of using Dovecot submission to relay to the external relaying cluster.
So, both relaying and routing are done

Latin Hypercube with condition sum = 1
Hi
I want to du a sensitivity analysis using Latin Hypercubes. But my
parameters have to fulfill two conditions:
1) ranging from 0 to 1
2) have to sum up to 1
So far I am using the lhs package and am doing the following:
library(lhs)
ws <- improvedLHS(1000, 7)
wsSums <- rowSums(ws)
wss <- ws / wsSums
but I think I can't do that, as after the normalization

how can I get the similarity value (i.e., the inner cluster similarity) that was used to cut a hierarchical tree at a specific height?
I would appreciate your help!

TC: Simple and complex configs interplay
Hello,
From a user perspective, the simple (tcpri) and complex TC configs
offers two rather distinct choices. A user can very well be OK with
only using the simple way and that''s very fine. Then again, even in
doing so, the more complex config options are available. What is the
interplay between the two as far as having some parameters configured
in both at the same time ? So far

Thanks
Thanks a lot for your timely rely.
I still wonder whether I can use "a":"d" instead of 1:4.
I remember I fulfill it successfully according to the guidance of some materials on R,but fail to find it now.
Thanks again!

how to create data.frames from vectors with duplicates
Hi R users,
suppose I have two vectors,
> x=c(1,2,3,4,5)
> y=c('a','b','c','a','c')
How can I get a data.frame like this?
> xy
count
a 5
b 2
c 8
I know a few ways to fulfill the task. However, I have a huge number
of this kind calculations, so I'd like an efficient solution. Thanks

Bootstrapping confidence intervals
Hello,
We are a group of PhD students working in the field of toxicology. Several
of us have small data sets with N=10-15. Our research is mainly about the
association between an exposure and an effect, so preferrably we would like
to use linear regression models. However, most of the time our data do not
fulfill the model assumptions for linear models ( no normality of y-varible

Countvariable for id by date

I would like o have two additional columns:
1. “countF20”: a “countvariable” that shows which in order (by date) the id has if it fulfils the following logical expression: dg1 = F20* OR dg2 = F20*,
where * means F201,F202... F2001,F2002...F20001,F20002...
2. “countF2129”: another “countvariable” that shows which in order (by date) the id has if it fulfils the following logical expression: dg1 = F21*-F29* OR dg2 = F21...

Lightweight LMTP daemon to avoid overkill MTA
Hi,
I was unclear in my question. The spam filter is only able to deliver mail over SMTP, not over LMTP.. So I would still need some kind of daemon that listens for SMTP and then offers incoming email to Dovecot's LMTP socket.

ISDN BRI active adapters with NT mode - any alternatives ?
Having ISDN FXOs and a bunch of ISDN DECT base stations, I went looking
for a CAPI compatible active BRI adapter capable of NT mode. I have
found that the 'Eicon Diva Server 4BRI' fulfills theses requirements.
However, at EUR 1387 for four BRI interfaces, it does not come cheap.
Are there other users of similar hardware that can point me to
alternatives ?

log monitoring and reporting software
Hi folks,
In the company where i work, we are implementing a security standard. A part
of this is a log monitoring and reporting software. There are a few
requirements, that the software must fulfil:
- It must be capable of collecting logs from different devices (Linux
machines, network equipment, ...).
- it must be capable of sending alarms on security events
- it has to generate daily (weekly,

isohybrid and ISO images whose size is not a multiple of 2048 bytes vs. VirtualBox
Hi,
it would be interesting to know for what solution
TAILS decides and whether any problems arise with it.

On with the fundamental discussion of MBR cylinders:

The known ISO production programs comply to this condition.

Quadratic programming
Hi,
I'm quite new at R and I haven't found the answer to my question anywhere on the net, so either it is trivial or not documented. So, bare with be.
I am using the quadprog package and its solve.QP routine to solve and quadratic programming problem with inconsistent constraints, which obviously doesn't work since the constraint matrix doesn't have full rank. A way to solve this

Patch to add Unicode filename support for win32 flac
Here's a patch that makes MSVC compiled flac.exe able to use wildcards
and encode/decode files with Unicode characters in names. It may not be
the prettiest code but it fulfills its primary purpose.
I tried to alter FLAC code as little as possible. It replaces argv with
utf-8 encoded version and only converts to usable Unicode for file
functions. That means printed texts and tags that
