Probably simple function problem
# I have a simple function problem. I thought that I could write a function to modify a couple of vectors but I am doing something wrong #I have a standard cost vector called "fuel" and some adjustments to the #costs called "adjusts". The changes are completely dependend on the length #of the dataframe newdata I then need to take the modifed vectors and use # them later. I need to do this several times and the only change in the variables # is the length of t...

(no subject)
Hi everyone, I have problems with a double for loop and the program response: "Error in 1:mass[j] : NA/NaN argument" I'm trying to create a very simple script to generate a vector full of objects with the value [fuel] and in the amount [mass] for a hist plot. H=1 for (j in 1:63) {for (i in 1:mass[j]) { H[length(H)+1]=fuel[j]} } What does the error mean?(where do I find explanations for such issu...

For example when plotting mileage against weight (in American units), one might want to also include a second X axis on the top margin (e.g., axis() pos = 3) with fuel mileage in metric units. xyplot(Mileage ? Re: Frontlines fuel of war - Problem
I'm running wine 1.1.4 under ubuntu 810 and are having problems with Frontlines Full of War as well. I've installed vcrun2005 & set it to WinXP for the exe file and that helped a little. Here is the error message I get: Code: ~/.wine/drive_c/Program Files/THQ/Frontlines-Fuel of War/Binaries $wine FFOW.exe fixme:mixer:ALSA_MixerInit No master control found on USB Device 0x46d:0x8d7, disabling mixer fixme:ntdll:NtQueryInformationProcess (0xffffffff,info_class=34,0x91a3e0,0x00000004,0x91a3dc) Unknown information class fixme:ntdll:NtQuerySystemInformation info_class SYSTEM...

Need help to locate my mistake
Dear readers I would like to make General Linear Model (GLM) for the following data set http://louise.hoffman.googlepages.com/fuel.csv The code I have written is fuelData<-read.table('fuel.csv',header=TRUE, sep=',') n<-dim(fuelData)[1] xOnes<- matrix(1,nrow=n,ncol=1) x<-cbind(xOnes,fuelData[,3]) y<-fuelData[,4] theta<-((t(x)%*%x)^(-1))%*%t(x)%*%y which gives > theta [,1] [1,...

Synthesize low batt (LB) fron SNMP UPS which doesnot support this?
...about are 800kVA each and without doing the actual maths, I'd guess we would need at least a 100kW generator. That would come with all sort of other problems (getting a room, deciding whether to run all the time for quick mains sync, i.e. generator wheel is powered by mains when not needed, fuel exchange every few months as gas add-ons tend to flocculate(?) when stored too long, ...). So, I doubt that will materialize any time soon ;-) Cheers Carsten -- Dr. Carsten Aulbert, Max Planck Institute for Gravitational Physics, Callinstra?e 38, 30167 Hannover, Germany, Phone +49 511 762 171...

Labels and Goto()
...ing there about labels in the pages for extensions.conf OR the Goto() command. I'm not going to do it. I've realised that when people post documentation about something they think they understand, on incorrect or incomplete assumptions, that they invariably post something wrong, which just fuels more incorrect information, and hurts others. That's why it's the developers that should write the docs. Anyway... How can I use Goto() to jump to a label in a different extension or context? When you have a lot of loops and such in a single extension, you end up wanting to use multiple...

Introducing ConVirt 2.0
...s of only a few significant parts: 1. Do what other free and open tools already do. 2. Slap a web interface on it! 3. Spam lists. 4. Rope in suckers. The suggestion that a web interface is a value add to an infrastructure issue is at least insulting. You could attempt to slap a web interface on a fuel injection system (or maybe at least give access to the magic a la MegaSquirt), but a bunch of assholes are still going to blow something up. It's not going to give any admin worth his or her salt a boner because it's not readily scriptable and it amounts to candy for retards. Secondly, ever...

Jazzing up the Task Views index page
A little while ago here we had a short discussion about Task Views - I think ignited by someone saying 'how many times do I have to say "have you read the Optimisation Task View?"?' and I poured some fuel on that fire by saying "Task Views" was a stupid name. Anyway, I did say that Task Views were rather brilliant, but were let down by their hidden position on the R web sites (tucked away as the third element of a sub-menu of a CRAN mirror site linked to by the CRAN link from the Download...

Rolling with Ruby on *Instant* Rails - "New" Tutorial
...ed some frustration working through it. This was due first to the fact that I was using Instant Rails, not Rails, and second, to the fact that Rails itself has grown since Curt wrote the article. Despite my frustration, the payoff was huge. Ruby on [Instant]Rails ROCKS!!! In an effort to help "fuel the fire" I decided, with his blessing, to update Curt''s article to make it 100% keystroke-for-keystroke, window-for-window accurate for someone using this same tutorial for InstantRails Release 1.0 installed on Windows 2000, SP4. All feedback is welcome. It''s at http://ins...
