[LLVMdev] RFC - Stop ignoring -fprofile-generate and -fprofile-use
...find the profile feedback data files. See -fprofile-dir. -fprofile-use-fprofile-use=pathEnable profile feedback-directed optimizations, and the following optimizations which are generally profitable only with profile feedback available: -fbranch-probabilities, -fvpt, -funroll-loops, -fpeel-loops, -ftracer, -ftree-vectorize, and ftree-loop-distribute-patterns. By default, GCC emits an error message if the feedback profiles do not match the source code. This error can be turned into a warning by using -Wcoverage-mismatch. Note this may result in poorly optimized code. If path is specified, GCC looks...

R-devel and gcc 3.4
I tried compiling R-devel from the subversion sources using gcc 3.4.1 and it fails in make check at d-p-q-r-tests. It compiles and works using gcc 3.3.4. Can post more details if needed (don't remember the exact error off the top of my head). switching to Linux, suggestions?
Dear List, I have acquired a new desktop and wanted to put a free OS on it. I am trying Fedora Core 1, but not sure what the best Linux OS is for using R 2.0.1? Thank you in advance for your input, Tom Volscho ************************************ Thomas W.
