Share and Remote mounting ZFS for anonyous ftp
...through the steps of setting up a shared zfs file system:
zfs sharenfs=on portal/ftp-incoming
zfs set sharenfs=rw=SystemB.domain,root=SystemB.domain portal/ftp-incoming
Mounted the shared file system on SystemB:
mount SystemA:/export/ftp/incoming /export/ftp/incoming
I''ve setup /etc/ftpd/ftpaccess for upload to /export/ftp/incoming and
to change owner and permissions to a local user:
upload /export/ftp /incoming yes webadmin www 0440 nodirs

sftp / scp extension
...cations, download locations,
etc...
Essentially run the sftp-server or scp code within a
chrooted environment within the users directory could be
sufficient, although allowing more movement / flexibility based on a
config file would be preferable.
If at all possible something
similiar to the ftpaccess file used with wu-ftpd.

FTP specific port forwarding
...there's the always the sftp way instead of FTP over SSH,
however in the cases where secure communication is needed for "AS-IS"
systems this would be a nice to have feature.
I've previously used wu-ftpd where I've set "passive address" and
"passive ports" in ftpaccess file, and set up tunnels for all the
passive ports. However the maintenance gets horrendus in the long
term. And getting lots of "425: address already in use" errors when
the port range is not big enough.
Just a thought

Missing bugfixes in redhat4.1
...ibution.
First of them -- a SERIOUS SECURITY BUG in wu-ftpd allowing
any user gain a root acces to files. Patch was posted in redhat-announce
list and included in wu-ftpd-2.4.2b11-9.
Second: a bug in wu-ftpd -- ftpd doesn''t perform any log for real user
and ignores corresponding lines in ftpaccess configuration file.
Patch was posted in redhat-devel.
These two patches are placed in
ftp://shade.msu.ru/pub/linux/utils/wu-ftpd-2.4.2-secure+log.patch
Third: a bug in cracklib, which in certain conditions forces pam_unix_passwd
module to cause segmentation fault instead of authentication (in...

allowed for no users. The problem is, when I looked at my ftp permissions,
users are allowed full ftp access to the / bin drectory... here any way
that they can launch a shell session from the ftp session? BTW, I''m
running wu-ftp 2.4
[mod: I would tag them as "guests" (/etc/ftpaccess?). This causes
wu-ftp to treat them about the same as anonymous ftp users. -- REW]

winbindd and ftp
Hello,
I setup samba2.2.2 with winbind. samba is a member of domain with
security=domain. Now both work well.
Since there is no user in /etc/passwd, and user information gets from PDC(a
win2000 server).
The question is: there is no /home/xxx directory too.(I don't want to make
it manually).
I can configure /etc/pam.d/login with :
session required /lib/security/pam_mkhomedir.
so when
